LOOK CRUZ TALKING

NEW EXECOMM I LOOK for-ward to a very interesting year with you guys. Aside from past experiences, Kitkat Marie's motherly instincts, Gucci's council room dominance, Gianna's brains & personality, Irene's pub loyalty & extensive use of tumblr (sign of creativity 'yan, guys), Marc [Marie]'s pas-sion for fin (summer pa lang naririnig ko nang sumisingil), Zion Marie's obvious love for everything externals, and Vhet Marie's big big love for the org will make OBEM even better. Good luck to all of you and let's all help each other next year :) See you at Plansem! Let's all have fun this school year!

dela Cruz Breakeven Editor-in-Chief, AY 09-10

What does the presidency mean to you?

[The presidency] is never a title or something

to boast about. To me, it is the greatest privi-

lege to serve the people I have learned to

love and accept throughout my stay. If I

could only do the same service even if I am

not president, I would most gladly do so.

However, you can undoubtedly do much

more for OBEM in the Execomm and that is

the road I took. This last year, I want to give

it all and now, I could give it all for OBEM.

This presidency is me offering my entirety,

merits and flaws, and a giant leap from my

safe zone. What could possibly be a better

way to end college, right?

What does OBEM mean to you? I hope

what I said (in the previous question) reflects

what OBEM means to me. I can only imagine

myself rotting in the library, waiting during

my three-hour break in between classes

without them. Haha! Seriously, OBEM taught

me a lot about life and academics and friends

and all. It is the reason why I love being in

Econ. It is the reason why I love being a BE

major. It is the reason why I love being me.

Cheesy, it may seem. But, I desire to offer my

love and service the most to those who also

loved and served me in my lifetime.

What can members expect from the

OBEM Executive Committee AY 10-11? We

cal’t assure everymle tgat we whll nrmduce

the biggest & most successful events. How-

ever, we as an Execomm desire to hear out

[our members] and reach out more. [We

want] an organization truly led by the mem-

bers. This batch of Execomm will definitely

strive to bring OBEM back to stable grounds

and hopefully, build up again the passion of

the members. The year will be hard, but as

long as everyone trusts & willingly helps, we

believe we can all work this out. OBEM Exe-

comm 10-11 would definitely never quit

(because of our oath! Kidding!).

Will you implement any changes?

Changes still need to be ironed out during

Plalsek ald tgrmugg kekbers’ hlnuts. But

definitely, there are issues that need to be

addressed tm jeen us gmhlg (h.e. kekbers’

participation, org structure, etc.). We do

hope that everyone becomes involved and

informed about these [things], because at the

end of the day, the members are the ones

wgm whll be affected. ald sm, whtg everymle’s

help, we hope to arrive with a decision

bacjed un by everymle’s cmmnerathml..

Shout out! To OBEMers around the world:

I hope every OBEMer around the world sees

what OBEM has done for them and may they

continually reflect on the impact of OBEM in

their lives. Sometimes, we get too preoccu-

nhed whtg mur careers tgat we dml’t get tm

look back and see those things that paved the

way to where we are now. I hope in every

way they can, they remember that this little

org still exists and hopefully, preserve ties

with the org. They are also very free to do-

nate! (Hahaha!)

Seriously, your stories mean a lot to the

org, as inspirational forces, and OBEM would

be very happy to hear and sit a while with

you guys. While you guys are building ca-

reers, OBEM would definitely be building

bases to become an organization looked

upon in the whole of UP Diliman. Watch out

for that! :D

By the way, what are you doing this sum-

mer? The usual stuff. Bakery work! Hoping to

fhld al hlterlsghn but lucj’s lmt yet ml ky

side. and never forget, the OBEM stuff. :) P.S.

I hope me and my thesis partner can also

start reading journals for our thesis!

itkat is sweeter than her chocolate namesake & baked goodies combined. Though often considered the silent type, her passion for OBEM resonates through her actions. Her heart & determination are what make her a true leader. K

Gucci Diamante captains the sponsorship ship with one mis-

sion in mind: Bring home the (marketing) bacon!

What does being the Executive Vice

President mean to you? [Being the] Ex-

ecutive Vice President is service and

leadership.

What does OBEM mean to you?

OBEM is my college life and family.

marketing buddy to accompany you. :)

Actually, all the changes that I want to

implement are written in my SPOA but

basically the changes are aimed to make

a more fun Adhoc and an Adhoc that is a

good training ground for its members.

Shout out! Hi OBEM! (Wow! Comm

Page 7: Breakeven Special Issue

What does being Vice President for

Academic Affairs mean to you? Being the

VP for Acads is the result of people trust-

ing me. I won't break that trust. I'll do

my best because you all made the right

choice! GO Acads! GO OBEM!

What does OBEM mean to you?

OBEM is my family here in the UP. Siya

[ang] nag-aalaga sakin sa college. and

now as a member of the Execomm, I'll

take care and protect OBEM para naman

marami pa siyang maalagaan na mga

taong tulad ko sa darating na hen-

erasyon. Just like a real family, I'd hate to

see it fall apart so I'll do my best to keep

it whole.

What can members expect from the

OBEM Executive Committee AY 10-11?

An Execomm na approachable with a

happy-friendly vibe. Our enthusiasm will

be INFECTIOUS! You'll feel it up to the

tips of your fingers! But seriously, with

everything that has happened, siguro ex-

pect an Execomm that will hold on until

the very end. WE ♥ YOU ALL!

What can members expect from next

year’s Acads Coppittee? NO OBEMER

LEFT BEHIND: All members shall be CS

and US this year. Joke! We'll do our best

to help the members in their academics.

Exnect al Acads tgat’ll be tgere tm asshst

you sa long & harrowing UP life mo.

We'll try our best to make things easier

for you para maka-graduate ka na fresh

& pretty pa rin at hindi mukhang panda

or nasalanta ng bagyo. We'll also be or-

ganizing fun & exciting events that will

promote awareness sa nangyayari sa

Philippines at sa world na related sa

business & economics! Mga astig na BBC

at CNN level of awareness ang paguusa-

pan natin ng masinsinan! Pero syempre,

Acads won't be nerdy! We'll be smart yet

sizzlin' hot & SEXY!

Will you be implementing any

changes? Yes. When organizing events,

we'll make it like Eco-no-mix, meaning

that there are main project coordinators

(PCs) and sub PCs. This would hopefully

help lessen the

work-

load of

each

indi-

vidual

in an

event because the work will be distrib-

uted. But honestly, for this to be success-

ful dapat super bonded ang members

kasi paano yun kung ang dami niyo

nang PCs sa event tapos hindi naman

kayo naguusap? Eh di magkakagulo lang

dahil walang coordination. Kaya naman

gagawin naming bonding activity ang

pagaayos ng sample exams (samplex).

Mag-bo-bonding kami over samplex fix-

ing. [Aside from that] we'll be doing a lot

of fun things together. ACADS, be ready!

Our bondings shall range from chaka

bondings (i.e., jogging sa oval) to sosyal

bondings (i.e., snorkeling sa Tubbataha

Reef). Mag-fu-fundraise din kami ng

bongga all-year round.

EXTEND

What does being the Vice President for External Affairs

mean to you? Being a VP for Exte is a great, great responsibility.

While the demands of the job seem too overwhelming for me, I

find that taking this opportunity to serve OBEM is my way of

sharing with other people the opportunity to shine and to in-

spire others, OBEMers and non-OBEMERs alike, to be an active

helper in developing society. :)

What does OBEM mean to you? OBEM to me is home. Here,

I have found some of my most cherished people. It's also an

avenue for learning and growth.

What can pepbers exqect frop next year’s Exte Coppit-

tee? This past year has been very good to our committee. I be-

lieve I am right if I say that we have achieved so much this

school year. And for me, the next best thing we can expect

from our committee is that we continue the burning passion in

order to shine more and BE more!

INTE BACK

LOVE

What does being the Vice President for Internal Affairs mean

to you? It was VP Inte or nothing. I really wanted to have that

chance and opportunity to do more for OBEM and its members.

I've felt that it was my calling. Though may target talaga akong

makatrabaho kaya ako nag-Inte. (Half-meant ito.) Noon pa

lang, sobrang gusto ko na mag-serve sa members. Feeling ko

sobrang mahal na mahal ko sila. kaya wala na akong ibang

kinonsider kundi VP Inte.

What does OBEM mean to you? Pwede mo na ngang sabihin

na "I'm in a relationship with OBEM" since sa kanya lang na-

man ang oras ko at walang araw na hindi ko siya naiisip.

What can members expect from the OBEM Executive Com-

mittee AY 10-11? Expect an EXECOMM for the members. Every

decision, we'll be considering the welfare of our dear OBEMers.

We'll be as transparent as possible. ONE loving Execomm for

OBEM and OBEMers.

Will you implement any changes? Not so much of change, but

we promise to be more efficient and more affectionate. LOL.

Shout out! OBEM, [I] don't have much to say. Hope this is

enough: I Trust and Love You.

VHET ON IT. Pena, always proud to be an OBEMer is a sure-win bet. Indeed, she is the queen of our hearts. eeping such a

being the daddy to future Fin mems, being the

mother/financier for a family called OBEM, and

same time.

my family and life here in Econ. :-)

expect a new breed of Execommers with fresh,

new, bold ideas!

What can pepbers exqect frop next year’s

Fin Committee? Expect the unexpected! HAHA!

Will you implement any changes? Yes, I will

definitely be implementing some changes in the

Finance committee. First is regarding the com-

mittee's structure & the different roles of each

Fin member (from VP to Director to PCs). Next,

I will add and remove some fundraisers to the

current event line-up. Lastly, as I have said in

my SPOA, the Finance Committee shall now be

the one to set the budget for each event/activity.
