Have you made a commitment to the Diocesan Annual Appeal (DAA)? If not, please make your gift or pledge this weekend. Pledges can be paid over 10 months. Consider increasing your gift this year by 5 or 10% if you have not changed your gift in several years. For questions about automatic sus-taining gifts (which is the highly recommended method for supporting our Church) contact Renee Tate at [email protected] or call #1-855-397-8252. You can suspend a sustaining gift at any time by calling Renee. See detailed information about online giving and the work your gift supports at www.crookston.org/daa. Thank you for all you do to support your parish and diocesan ministries. And please send in a prayer request to be prayed at the Chancery, whether or not you can make a gift.

Reflection on Next Sunday Readings - 9:15 AM Sun. February 23rd: 7th Sunday of OT In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus lays out many of his basic life teachings. Several of them are extraordinarily difficult for us to un-derstand, much less put into practice. Two of these are the famous “turn the other cheek” and “love your enemy” admonitions. To under-stand what Jesus is saying and what it means to us today, we first need to understand the context in which Jesus is speaking.

2020 Adult Faith Formation Join us Mondays to study the reading for the upcoming Sun. Meet at church basement at St. Philip’s - 6:30pm! Call T.Peterson 424-7552

LOOKING FOR A HOST FAMILY! My name is Conner Rued and I am first year student at Saint Catherine University, Doctor of Physical Therapy program! I’m reaching out to your community because I have the honor of being placed at LifeCare for my first full time clinical experience. It is an 8 week program from June 8th- July 31st. With that being said we as students are responsible for finding other housing during the 8 weeks and because I don’t believe that I have any connections in Roseau, I’m won-dering if you know of anyone in the parish or community that would be willing to host me during those 8 weeks! I am happy to share more information about me but I just wanted to reach out first! I have been to Roseau once for a hockey tournament a few years back and everyone was so kind! I look forward to hearing from you! Best regards, Conner [email protected]

Pres. of Polish Episcopate Issues Statement on LGBT+ Despite the holidays, which should be a time of rest and reflec-tion on the beauty of nature created by God, polemics arose in Poland over the “LGBT ideology” (gay, lesbian, bisexual and transsexual). This is probably related to the offensive of LGBT+ milieus and a significant increase in the number of so-called pride marches organized in our country, as well as with the introduction to school curricula of a new approach to sexual education, in ac-cordance with this ideology, planned by some local governments after holidays. People belonging to milieus of the so-called sexual minorities are our brothers and sisters for whom Christ gave his life and whom He wants also to be saved. Respect for specified individu-als cannot, however, lead to the acceptance of an ideology that aims to revolutionize social customs and interpersonal relation-ships. “This revolution of customs and morals – emphasizes Pope Francis – has often waved «the flag of freedom», but it has, in reality, brought spiritual and material devastation to countless human beings, especially the poorest and most vulnera-ble” (Vatican, 17.11.2014). Hence my appeal to local authorities not to make decisions that – under the guise of counteracting discrimination – would conceal the ideology that denies the natural gender difference and complementarity between men and women. I also appeal to parliamentarians to resist the far-reaching plans of LGBT+ mi-lieus, that aim to change Polish law in order to introduce the so-called “homosexual marriage” and the possibility of adoption chil-dren by them. The wave of criticism that affected the Metropolitan of Cracow, the archbishop, and professor, as well as the reactions of employ-ers towards people expressing their disapproval of LGBT+ ideolo-gy, testify to the ideological totalitarianism rooted in certain mi-lieus, consisting in removing people who think differently outside the sphere of freedom. Therefore, I appeal to all people of good-will to apply the principle of non-discrimination in public discus-sion not only to the supporters of the mentioned ideology, but also to allow its opponents on equal rights to debate. Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki -- Metropolitan of Poznań -- President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference -- Warsaw, August 8, 2019

This Sunday "For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the

scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:20)

The scribes and Pharisees lived according to the letter of the law, and they used this to elevate themselves above the other people. Jesus is clear—it's the love that you have in your heart that will get you to heav-en. Simply following church rules out of obligation, not love, does not put you on the path to heaven. Attending Mass on Sunday and then gossip-ing about a fellow parishioner on the parking lot is an example of a mod-ern day Pharisee.
