The new product can help bring hair repair and colour protection benefits to shampoos without sacrificing hair volume, the company says. It is a clear, water-dispersible microemulsion of silicone polyether that delivers feather-light smoothness. Dow Corning CE-1874 Microemulsion can be used in standard, sulfate-free and clear shampoos to help increase the fullness of thin, tired-looking hair; to repair dull, dry hair; and to protect and maintain the colour of colour- treated hair. Suitable for use on many hair types, the product also has the ability to enhance hair shine and improve ease of combing. In addition to shampoos, Dow Corning CE-1874 Microemulsion can be used to create clear, moisturizing leave-in conditioners. The product is available globally and complies with regulations for cosmetic use in China. Dow Corning showcased the new microemulsion at in-cosmetics 2014 in Hamburg, Germany, held 1-3 Apr 2014, where the company also discussed its new diglycerol-modified water-in-oil silicone emulsifier. This advanced new emulsifier technology offers high oil flexibility and emulsification capabilities for highly stable formulations, and is suitable for use in PEG-free skin care, colour cosmetics and sun care applications, Dow Corning says.
