The International Polar Year 2007-2008 is a world forum which intends discussing and intensifying the cutting edge researches developed in North and South poles, gathering explorers from many countries to study the relation between those inhospitable cold places and the rest of the planet, how they interact with each other, and how they influence the oceans, atmospheres and terrestrial mass.

Embellishing the scenery, the first stamp depicts the “Ary Rongel” Oceanographic Support Ship – NapOc Ary Rongel, which provides logistical support to “Comandante Ferraz” Brazilian Antarctic Station – EACF, one of the Station quarters carrying BRAZIL identification and the International Polar Year logo; on the central stamp, other EACF quarters are depicted as well as the Brazilian Flag, and, on the third stamp, the Emperor Penguin, a typical specie of the regional fauna, is portrayed as well as the map of Antarctic Continent, with the Brazilian Antarctic Program – PROANTAR – logo in the center.
