In 2012 Deutsche Bank decided to refresh their 5 years old corporate

ebanking system. Following feedback from users and modern digital

trends, DB decided to find out what exactly could be improved in their

platform and how to improve the customer experience of their clients.

The entire project required preserving the core banking platform with ma-

jor improvements to the usability and process structure. The outcome of

the project delivered by uselab for Deutsche Bank became the PowerNet

corporate banking platform.

Corporate ebanking platforms rarely match the usability standards of the platforms addressed to individual customers. In this case the client was determined to keep the core platform intact, but to make the most of it by improving Information Architecture and implementing a cutting edge, comprehensive and intuitive graphic interface.

Deutsche Bank, as one of the most profitable financial institutions worldwide cares obout their customers. As one of the first banks in Poland DB introduced corporate ebanking system.

Deutsche Bank had and still has their corporate ebanking run on the Asseco DEF 3000 platform. After five years from the original launch customers were expecting a diffe-rent kind of experience than the platform provided. The processing of key functiona-lities wasn’t the fastest on the market and the Information Architecture differentiated Deutsche Bank’s corporate ebanking from current standards.

We started having in mind a redesign of the GUI. An upgrade of the platform without any major interference to its structure is a task that requires excellent identification of the current status and clear strategic goals. Different users have different tasks and different needs. To perform the most effective optimization uselab started with a deep expert audit of the entire platform and identified areas with the largest improvement potential.

Our research was focused on the personas of different key users. What we learned was essential for shaping the new strategy and redesign of key functionalities. The interface was made anew, but the change went much deeper. Power Net received a different Information Architecture, more intuitive authentication tools and conve-

The audit gathered lots of actionable recommendations and was the foundation for strategic changes in the platform. The final result of the project meant that Power Net had addressed all of the major concerns. Power Net is now a fast operation user cen-tered corporate platform. The entire implementation process was performed in close cooperation between Asseco, uselab and the client to maintain the highest standards of quality assurance, and deliver the optimal product.

Apart from the system design, uselab also prepared a fully interactive demo of the Power Net platform. With such major changes including an entire graphic interface redesign it proved vital in managing the change. By enabling users to see the new platform and to try using it before actually switching to it, uselab eased a lot of the

usual “transition tension”. Power Net is much faster and much more conve-nient. Now, the authentication process is simplified, the information structure is more comprehensive, and key processes perform much faster .Users have responded very well to the change.
