Our logo is the key element that identifies the 2017 Maltese Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The logo mark is balanced with clear legibility of the name - the relationship of these elements should never be altered in any way.

Should the logo need to be used in one colour (monotone),the below need to be utilized.

When the one colour logo is needed in full, ONLY the wireframe logo should be used.

Whenever the logo is featured on a light background, the full colour logo should be used.

Preferably, the logo is used on a 5%

Whenever the logo is used, it should be surrounded with a clear area to ensure clear visibility. No other elements should be placed within this zone.

To work out the clearspace area, take the height between the bottom of the logomark and the top of the logotype, and multipy it by 2. This value should be applied to all 4 sides of the logo. (Clearspace = Height x 2)

When any type of marketing collateral is designed, the logo needs to be featured on a 5% black banner at the bottom of the artwork, aligned right with the eu2017.mt website address aligned to the left.

The width of the bottom banner varies according to the artwork, but there is alwaysafixedrelationshipbetweenthelogosandtheheightofthebanner.

If really needed, the logo and the website may be swapped around (logo on the left and website on the right).

If the logo is not fully used, the logomark can ONLY be used in the following crops and aligned to the sides of the artwork. The crops CaNNOT be displayed floating in the middle of the artwork.

When the logo needs to be featured alongside other brands, it always has to be diagonally opposite to the other logo.

In these cases, the logo should be used on a 5% black background box, bleeding to the edge of the artwork.

The size of the logo should always be the same height of the partner logo (NOT including the box and bleed space), and the relationship between the box and the logo should never be altered (the space between the logomark and the logotype applied on either side and then multiplied at the top or at the bottom depending on the position of the logo).

PaRTNER LOGOuse by the maltese Eu Presidency

When the collateral being worked on is based on a partnership with other brands, the partner’s logo and the logo of the presidency should be featured alongside each other (same height), with the presidency logo showing first. There should be a 1cm gap between the 2 logos.

If the partner logo is in landscape, the landscape version of the presidency logo should be used and vice versa.

Any images used for this brand have to be from the library provided on request. NO stock imagery or images downloaded online should be used to represent MALTAEU2017.

To enhance the logo’s impact, black and white images are suggested. This allows for higher contrast with the logo.

Whenever a logo crop is placed on the image and covers more than ¼ of the image, the crop should be given a multiply effect over the image, and any text should go on the crop in white colour.

This effect should NEVER be used on a full colour image.
