brain fingerprinting
TRANSCRIPT
Brain fingerprinting is a technology that is invented for investigation purpose.
Brain fingerprinting is a proposed
investigative technique that measures recognition of familiar stimuli by measurintg electrical brain wave responses to words, phrases of pictures that are presented on a computer screen.
Introduction
Brain fingerprintin is one of the efficient
investigative technology, developed in
the U.S.A.
It was invented by Dr. Lawrence A.
Farwall.
Development
Brain fingerprinting is based on finding that the brain generates a unique brain wave pattern when a person encounters a familiar stimulus.
Use of functional magnetic resonance imaging in lie detection derives from studies suggesting that persons asked to lie show different patterns of brain activity than they do when truthful.
Technique and working….
Brain fingerprinting is designed to determine whether an individual recognizes specific information related to an event or activity by measuring brain wave responses to words, phrases, or pictures.
Cont.
The person to be tested wears a special headband/helmet with electronic sensors that measure the Electro Encephalo Graphy (EEG) signals from several locations on the scalp.
The testee is presented with a series of relevant and irrelevant words & pictures. The brain responses to these two types of stimuli allow the testor to determine if the measured brain response.
Cont.
There are four stages to Farwell Brain fingerprinting, which are similar to steps in fingerprinting and DNA fingerprinting.
1. Investigation.
2. Interview of subject.
3. Scientific testing.
4. Adjudication of guilt or innocence.
Phases of brain fingerprinting
BFP matches informational evidence
from the crime scene with evidence stored in the brain rather then physical.
Fingerprints and DNA are not available
in all occasions. The brain is always there, planning, executing and recording the suspect’s actions.
Comparison with other technologies
It is fundamentally different from polygraph
test, it doesn’t needs any verbal response.
It doesn’t needs any emotional sign from
person.
Advantage
This technology can be applied only in
places where the investigators have
sufficient amount of specific information
about an event or activity.
Disadvantage
Brain fingerprinting has proven 100% accurate in over 120 tests, including tests on FBI agents, tests for a US intelligence agency and for the US Navy, and tests on real life situation including actual crimes.
Accuracy
The technology fulfills an urgent need for governments, law enforcement agencies, investigators, crime victims, and falsely accused innocent suspects with a record of 100% accuracy.
