PART 1 GENERAL

1.1 SUMMARY

A. Section includes commercial grade solid strip bamboo flooring in multiple precise lengths.

2.1 COMMERICAL GRADE SOLID-STRIP BAMBOO FLOORING

A. Manufacturers: 1. Teragren Commercial; Model Synergy TPF-SYN-CHSNT-MPL (Chestnut). 2. Substitutions: Section 01600 - Product Requirement.

2.2 BAMBOO FLOORING COMPONENTS

A. Flooring Planks: 1. Dimensions: Multiple Precise Lengths of ½” x 3¾” x 2’, 3’, 4’ and 6’ in one carton. 2. Milling Profile: Tongue and Groove with micro-beveled edges and ends.

3. Factory Finish: water-based, solvent-free, 7-coat finish system of aluminum oxide and polyurethane flash-dried with ultraviolet light (UV cured): a. Layers:

1) Sealer 2) Suspended Aluminum Oxide (for abrasion resistance) 3) Sealer 4) Sealer 5) Sealer 6) Polyurethane (for scratch resistance) 7) Polyurethane (for scratch resistance)

B. Glue Down Adhesive: 1. Low-VOC, as recommended by manufacturer.

C. Flooring Trim: 1. Floor reducers as recommended by manufacturer to coordinate with specified

D. Moisture Barrier: 1. Impermeable moisture barrier system/vapor retarder system as recommended by

manufacturer.

E. ASTM Standards: 1. ASTM D1037-06a - Janka Ball, Min. 3,428. 2. ASTM D1037-06a - Dimensional change coefficient (50% RH to 80% RH):

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Section 01 30 00 - Administrative Requirements: Coordination and project conditions.

3.2 INSTALLATION

A. Open each box, remove the flooring from its packaging, and stack the flooring planks at least 4" off the ground to allow for complete and even air-circulation around the flooring.

B. Acclimation should occur at the room temperature and relative humidity levels expected to be present before, during, and after installation. Bamboo flooring should be allowed to acclimate on the job site for a minimum of three (3) days. For maximum stability, bamboo flooring should be acclimated at and installed into environments with relative humidity (RH) and temperature controls capable of maintaining the delivered moisture content of 7-9%. See selected flooring manufacturer for suggested percentages.

C. Install work in accordance with manufacturer’s standard.

D. Set and secure materials and components in place, plumb and level.

E. Carefully scribe work abutting other components, with maximum gaps of 1/32 inch.

F. Glue down over moisture barrier as recommended by flooring manufacturer.

3.3 ERECTION TOLERANCES

A. Section 01 40 00 - Quality Requirements: Tolerances.

B. Maximum Variation from Indicated Position: 1/8 inch or as recommended by flooring manufacturer.

C. Maximum Offset from Alignment with Abutting Materials: 1/8 inch or as recommended by flooring manufacturer.

3.4 CLEANING

A. Section 01700 - Execution Requirements: Final cleaning.
