Your company has just made a significant investment in new DC power

equipment. Protect that investment by selecting DC specialists to install it. In the

planning phase, our design team will work with you to ensure all aspects of the

project are considered, including site assessment, sizing, equipment integration,

Method of Procedure.

In order to assure project deadlines are met, BPS provides optional staging and

delivery services. Coordination of all equipment and materials occur at our facility,

where they are thoroughly inspected, inventoried, and tested. This assures you

that any difficulties such as freight damage, parts shortages or product defects are

resolved before our installation team arrives on site.

Once at your location, our experienced service personnel will install your

equipment in accordance with all applicable codes. BPS is trained in all major

manufacturers’ requirements and preferred handling of their equipment; in fact we

are “factory certified” to perform installations and repairs for numerous power

Regulations regarding removal, storage, transportation, and recycling

of spent lead-acid batteries are more stringent than ever. As the

regulations become tougher, your risk of non-compliance increases.

In fact, under current Superfund law, you may become liable for the

clean-up costs caused by your contractor even though you acted in

good faith.

Battery ownership is “cradle to grave”, Government regulations, in

particular the Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA), indicates

that parties who first takes possession of a battery are responsible for its ultimate disposal. Selling the battery does not end

liability; the EPA usually seeks financial compensation for site clean-up from all potentially responsible parties, particularly

those with “deep pockets”.

At BPS, we decrease your company’s liability in the following

BPS technicians are routinely instructed in the latest

hazardous material training and spill response procedures.

While on site, BPS personnel wear OSHA required

protective equipment and have a spill response kit readily

available.

� REMOVAL

Our trained personnel can remove batteries quickly and

batteries from 10 AH - 8000 AH, including special

equipment to site drain severely damaged cells.

� PACKAGING

Some companies load old, fragile batteries on wooden

pallets. Aged cells can be very fragile and easily break

during transport; imagine how DOT might respond if they

spotted sulfuric acid leaking out of a semi-truck as it rolled

down the freeway. At BPS, we transport all flooded

batteries in DOT approved environmental over-packs.

These large, rugged containers are designed to keep spills

and breakage where they belong: inside.

� FLEXIBILITY- BPS provides a choice of services including removals from site or

packaging / pick-up at your consolidation facility. In addition, we are available to

collect full or partial loads, as well as mixed varieties of lead-acid batteries.

� TRANSPORTATION - From the time your batteries are removed from site until they

arrive at the recycling facility you can be assured that all BPS trucks, as well as any

contracted freight carriers, are fully insured and licensed for hazardous materials.

� RECYCLING - BPS only utilizes EPA Approved Facilities.

� DOCUMENTATION - After the cells have been recycled, your

company will be provided with a complete paper trail which

includes a comprehensive activity report, copies of all bill of

CAPACITY TESTING

At BPS, we believe the only true test of a battery system is a capacity test. BPS performs capacity testing per IEEE

guidelines and provides temporary batteries to ensure your equipment remains protected throughout the process. Few

companies can afford the cost and headaches of a system failure; make sure your battery is performing at rated capacity.

CONNECTION INTEGRITY TESTING

A leading cause of system failure and battery room fires is high connector resistance. A

complete maintenance routine should include periodic resistance measurements of each battery

cell connector. BPS can provide resistance testing as a part of a total periodic maintenance

program or on an as needed basis.

INTERNAL RESISTANCE / CONDUCTANCE / IMPEDANCE

Ohmic measurements are becoming an increasing requirement of many comprehensive maintenance programs. The ability

to compare data collected over time provides customers with the ability to identify potential problems before they result in

system outages. BPS can perform Internal Ohmic measurements as a part of a comprehensive maintenance program or as

a stand alone service.

INFRARED THERMOGRAPHY

System components such as fuses, breakers, and connections operating beyond their

designed temperature range represent a significant risk to system integrity. Using infrared

thermal imaging, BPS can easily determine if these components are operating within their

design parameters. This non-intrusive testing can be performed either independently or

as part of a complete site audit.

GROUND RESISTANCE TESTING

High ground resistance can result in such troublesome problems as intermittent equipment difficulties or as catastrophic as

system failure, severe equipment damage and even personnel injury. Utilizing high resolution ground resistance test

equipment, BPS personnel can evaluate your existing grounding system.

ALARM SET POINTS

Testing of alarm set points can be accomplished on most equipment without system interruption. Regular verification and

testing of alarms is an essential part of system integrity and reliability.

# ENGINEERING - With our focus in critical power, BPS can assist with site

assessment, sizing, equipment selection, as well as development of the Scope

of Work, Method of Procedure, and Bill of Materials.

# PROCUREMENT - Our experienced purchasing team will ensure products and

materials meet your timeline.

# INSPECTION & TESTING - The BPS south Seattle facility includes over 15,000 sq ft

of warehouse with over 1,000 amps of charging capacity. Upon shipment

arrival, a thorough inspection is conducted, so any freight damage or parts

shortages are resolved prior to installation. As requested, BPS will conduct

battery initial charging followed by an IEEE capacity test. Performing this critical

test before installation will significantly assist in meeting your turn-up schedule.

Post-testing, BPS will re-package equipment and ready for transport.

# TRANSPORTATION & DELIVERY - BPS delivers utilizing our own drivers and truck

fleet. BPS is licensed, insured, and DOT registered for hazardous material for

battery transport. Vehicles include boom trucks, 4-wheel drive, & high capacity

lift gate trucks. BPS maintains specialized material handling equipment to

accommodate even the most difficult basement or high rise delivery location.

# INSTALLATION - Utilizing the Method of Procedure, the BPS Power Team will

install, test and turn-up equipment in accordance with all applicable codes.

RELOCATION & STORAGE SERVICES

# RELOCATIONS SERVICES - BPS will perform equipment shut down and

disassembly with specialized packaging for battery transport. BPS is licensed,

insured, and DOT registered for battery transport. Storage services include

battery periodic charging. Re-deployed equipment will be transported to new

location with installation, test and turn-up services.

DECOMMISSIONING SERVICES

205, I-5, and I-84 providing rapid deployment of equipment and materials to

SPILL CONTAINMENT

Spill control systems are rapidly becoming standard equipment in facilitiescontaining stationary battery systems. Batteries contain sulfuric acid and anunintentional release could cause a number of potential hazards including:

# Building / Facility Damage - Large spills have the potential to weakenfloor support structures and leak to additional floors, causing extensivedamage to building.

# Environmental Clean-up - Lead particulates and other toxic or hazardoussubstances may be contained in electrolyte; spillage could result in anenvironmental clean-up costing thousands of dollars.

In addition to the potential spill clean up costs, compliance is also an issue. Anumber of agencies recognize the need for containment and have addressedthis subject in their regulations. The IFC (International Fire Code), NFPA(National Fire Protection Association), and UFC (Uniform Fire Code), and haveall outlined the circumstances in which spill containment would be required.

BPS provides design and installation of spill mitigation products includingEnviroGuard and Acran. Barrier systems can be installed around new orexisting battery strings. A typical spill containment system is comprised of a

barrier surround and acid safe resistant floor coating which prevents the flow of electrolyte to other areas.
