VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTION

Agency: The Salvation Army

Title: Club Mentor or Tutor

Major Objective: To assist The Salvation Army Club Personnel

Major Responsibilities: This position description is not necessarily an exhaustive list of all

responsibilities, skills, duties, requirements, efforts, or working conditions associated with the

tasks. This position description is intended to be an accurate reflection of the current tasks. The

Salvation Army reserves the right to require that additional or different tasks be performed based

on the organization’s need or when circumstances change. As a volunteer, you may be asked to

provide homework and tutorial assistance as directed by a supervisor. Volunteers may be asked

to coordinate with parents, teachers, and club members to develop an individual education plan

for members. As a volunteer you may be asked to assist in planning and conducting social and

recreational field trips for club members. Volunteers may assist in organizing, conducting and

hosting in-house game room tournaments and sports activities. Volunteers advocate youth

development programs in the community. Volunteers help supervise patrons visiting the Club

and participating in programs; ensure that patron’s behavior remains consistent with club rules

and regulations. Volunteers agree to report any injuries to the supervisor immediately and

instruct the injured party to complete an incident report. Volunteers follow all Safe From Harm

policies and procedures without exception.

Qualifications: Likes and relates to children and their needs. Has compassion, is friendly and

understanding, is courteous, a team player and able to follow instructions. Is able to work with

other volunteers and supervise other volunteers under their leadership.

Requirements: All Boys and Girls Club Volunteers are required to fill out a Safe From Harm

Volunteer Packet in its entirety and strictly adhere to all rules and regulations as directed under

the Safe From Harm program guidelines.
