As summer crashestoward us like a reighttrain, some o us wonderhow we will continue toremain productive duringthe lazy days.

    Some o you might pick

up extra jobs. Othersmight play video gamesor pick up those dustybooks sitting on thebookshel.

For those o you withiPhones and a Gmail account, being productive now means cleaning out that pesky emailaccount and handling business like a proessional. Or something like that.

Orchestra Inc.s app, Mailbox, is a revelation. It transorms emails rom messages intotasks by constantly encouraging you to make a decision on every single email youreceive. To do this, Mailbox counts each email in your inbox as a notication, unlike mostother email applications that stop counting i you read the email.

When I activated Mailbox, it counted my 4300 read messages and prompted me with amessage, asking me i I would like to archive everything. As an avid document saverJournalism school will do that to youI declined. But an incredibly deep desire to getrid o the big red 4,300 hovering over the app, I agreed to archive everything and giveMailbox a air shake.

Boom. Mailbox dropped everything into the archive and let me with a clean inbox. Nowi I need an email rom some time ago, I can just search in my all mail category. Nohassle or anything.

Once my inbox was cleaned, the app presented me with a photo rom Instagram, areward or making it to zero. It was a nice little git that now motivates me every day toclean out my inbox.

And cleaning out the inbox has never been easier. Messages can be swiped rom let toright and each direction, and the length o the swipe also determines what happens withthe email. A short swipe to the right archives the email. A longer swipe to the right deletesthe email.

But the true power o the app lays within the ability to set email reminders or put emailsinto lists. Get an email that you dont want to answer until later in the day? Make a shortswipe to the let and select the later today reminder. Find a nice article you emailedyoursel? Make a long swipe to the let and put the email in the to read list.

On top o the basic, powerul unctionality, Mailbox also has a sleek interace that makesreading and sorting through mail ea sier. Its brilliant, honestly. Ive never enjoyed an appso much ever.

The downsides o Mailbox are that it is only or iPhone users with Gmail accounts (otheraccounts coming soon) and sometimes there are connection issues. Also, downloading theapp puts you onto a waiting list, which took about a week or me to get through. The appwill warn you when the Mailbox is ready, and there isnt anything to lose rom the waitinglist, but its still a barrier o entr y.

All in all, this is the best app on the iPhone. It makes you an email champion. No emailcan escape your watchul gaze. Ive never elt more productive managing the email parto my lie. I you have an iPhone and a Gmail account, this is a must-have app.

The new MMO rom Cryptic Studio, which developed the underrated City ofHeroes/Villains, recently started its openbeta, meaning everyone can downloadand take a crack at the game or ree.

Neverwinteris mostly typical MMOaire: collect quests, deeat bad guysand level up. The games twist is theFoundry, which allows players to make

their own quests, and players can rateand subscribe to quests and authors. All o this is made easy with a simplequeuing menu.

Combat is action oriented with the vedierent character classes ullling theholy trinity roles o healers, damagedealers and deenders. Unlike mostother MMOs, attacking in Neverwinterrequires contact between the weaponand enemy, but attacking also requiresthe player to stand still. This orcesplayers to pick good positions so thatblocking, attacking and dodging areecient.

The biggest complaint is that most othe convenience itemssuch as moreinventory slots or retraining skillsarear too expensive, ranging rom $5

to $15. It isnt hard to spend $60 (atypical game price) and still not have adeep, core experience.

Still, it costs nothing to get the gameand the open beta will transition intothe ull release o the game without anycharacter wipes. There is zero risk, so atleast give the game a shot.

    Visit http://nw.perectworld.com/ todownload the game.

MMOs are tough to rate, so any MMOsreviewed or Tech Talk wont have areview until they have been out or

Ater a long and extended dry spe ll, Ive nally ound some new andrelevant music that I like enough to take the time to write about. Ill behonest, o course. I havent been looking very hard. And Im still behindthe curve. I dont get paid enough to look hard, and thats nobodysault. I also dont get paid enough to stay ahead o the curve. Again:nobodys ault. May be my own ault. But whos got time to stay aheado the curve, anyway? Thats what Pitchork is or. I dont read Pitchork.I thought about doing reviews o Pitchork reviews. I still think thats agood idea, but I dont have time to read Pitchork. I only have time to tellyou what I already know. Its a ast-paced world and Ive got my ngersin a lot o pies. So heres what I know.

I rst met The Copperheads maybe three or our or two-ish years ago.Id randomly picked up their independently released debut EP romGuestroom Records local music shel. At that period in my lie, I wasstarved or new music and I wanted to know everything there was toknow about what was going on in the music scene in Oklahoma. Alot o it didnt stick and a lot o it did. Thats where I discovered TheCopperheads. They stuck. A ew weeks later I met two o them at TheGarage (Kyle and Dane), where we proceeded to get ull-drunk on Sudsand Spuds night, taking about rock and roll and how unortunate theOklahoma music scene is or local talent. It sucks or the most part. It didthen and it still does, I imagine. Not many ortunes have been made. But it was all we had and it wasnt so bad, except when it was, whichwas oten. No respect, no money, nothing but a bunch o punk kids withnothing better to do in the world but drink and make noise at it. I dontremember i any o that was actually part o the conversation, but that was a common theme those days. Still is.

I see the guys around sometimes s till, in bars or at shows. It had escaped me

until recently, however, that they had released a ull-length vinyl on Okie DopeRecords out o OKC (home to a pair o seven-inch vinyl rom Normans ownThe Boom Bangmay they rest in pizzas).

The Copperheadss [sick]released Apocalyptic Behavior(recorded, mixedand mastered by Chris Harris at Hook Echo Sound in Norman) in November2012. That means I was only late by about three months beore I nally oundand purchased the 12-inch, heavyweight vinyl. My turntable had blown abelt in January and remained inoperable until last April. Even with a newbelt, however, the turntable doesnt do so well as it did beore, so mostly Ivebeen listening to old classical and samba records rom my collection (as wellas a Hawaiian record that sounds incredibly eerie but awkwardly beautiul, speeding up and slowing down as it does). For that reason I patiently waitedto listen to Apocalyptic Behavioruntil I could aord a new turntable.

Tonight, however, ater several large Jens, it occurred to me that this could perhaps be the only andbest way to listen to such a ra ucous record. And I was right. I put the record on the table, stuck theneedle in the groove, and what I heard was immediately mind-blowing. It was indeed experimental, with a ocus on the mental. And then I realized that I had it set to the incorrect r.p.m. Already o toa good joke. Typically 12-inch vinyl plays at 33 r.p.m., which is what mine was set to. However,Apocalyptic Behavioris meant to play at 45 r.p.m. (Sounds about as good either way, i you askme.) Ater that revelation, I accelerated her to the proper speed and thats when I heard the band Iremembered and loved, the band that I had been ull drunk with at The Garage several years ago.It was a dirty and rowdy collection o songs, lled with spike and no-care and knee-jerk un. All theway through to the ending, repetitive skip that lasts until you personally remove the needle rom thegroove with your own nger, a skip that yells out MEH.

Then I remembered how our night at The Garage ended. Kyle called Jesse and Dane called Andy:You guys wanna get the band together tonight? Pick up some be ers. Well be over there shortly. Then some mysterious car picked them up, and they let me with the check. I thought, Now thatsprecisely how a band is meant to work. Now walk yourself home, Mel G uapo.

The heat is coming. Skirts come out. Men bare their chests. Its a magnicent season orplaying spy the eye-candy. Everything is just more un in the sun, as your heart chakrawarms alongside the temperature. The question is: Are you going to rock out to the tune osummer madness as a single soldier or a coupled-up captain?

For those o you unmarried, not engaged or lightly dating, the choice is yours. It seems tobe a hot topic at the moment. For some reason, it seems everyone around me has beentalking about summer being a great time to be single. I get it. When people are smiling,

relaxing and dressed in as little clothing as possible, its pretty ea sy to look around andcount on two hands the number o people youd like to chat up. Having the reedom to dothat is antastic, and being in a relationship means not being able to even entertain thepossibility o those firty encounters unless drama is your buddy. Having a signicant othermeans when youre out having a beer at the lake and Hotty McHotterson is standing nextto you with brown skin shining, t body rocking and beads o sweat glistening, you have toght your animal instinct to stare and sometimes even pounce. Mojo-stifing is rough.

But you know what I say? I say, yes, summer is a great time tobe single, but its an AMAZINGtime to be with someone who getsyour blood boiling or more thansurace reasons. I dont care whoyou are. I you actually care aboutand love someone inside and out,the emotions that surge throughyour body or him or her are amillion times more intense thanwhat you get rom a fing. Thatmeans i you have someone by

your side right now that you trulycare about, as winter coughs itslast cold breath into the muggy spring air, youre in or quite the summer love bender. Youshould eel lucky because youre getting ready to ride the steamy wave o sunshine love.

The shared sultry nights. The crazy outdoors adventures. The playul park trips. Theevenings spent listening to your avorite band, leaning in or a hot kiss and ollowing upwith a naughty squeeze. I mean, really. It only makes sense. I you enjoyed your partnerscompany during snuggle season o 32-degree blasts o rigid air, gray skies and zerooutdoor un-time options, youre going to adore what the summer has to oer.

This is the time tograb tight to theperson youre with.Pull them closer intoyour embrace andbask in the sweetsunlight. Break outthe sunscreen, beachblanket, resh ruit andiPod ull o summerjams and make some

    amazing summertimememories.

Summer loving is real.Forget the singlesgame o ronting, fexing, rivolous

encounters and empty sharing. They can be exciting short-term, but they do nothing ortruly lling your red happiness cup to the rim. Walk straight into the summer season holdinghands, smiling and laughing with the person who thinks youre the best thing since theinvention o fip-fops. Youll love summer love with the pers on you love. Dive in.

When you ask most people around the country about the University o Oklahoma, the rstand most popular response is that yeah, they have a pretty good ootball team. That is whatOklahoma is known or. However, Patty Gasso and Sunny Golloway are trying to make theSooners known or their prowess on the sotball and the baseba ll diamond.

Gasso has a national championshipunder her belt rom the 2000sotball campaign and just let oneget away last year. The Soonerswon game one o the NationalChampionship Series againstAlabama last year. Rain put adamper on the deciding game, themomentum swung to the CrimsonTide, and their ace Jackie Trainawon the series 2-1. The Soonersand the Sooner Nation sat stunned at ASA Hall o Fame Stadium. That title shouldhave been OUs; the drive began that night to this years College World Seriesand the second title under Gasso.

Returning was a core lineup that any coach in America would be drooling to have. Leading the way in the circle is the All-American andTeam USA star Keilani Ricketts. Ricketts is a handul in the circle and at the plate. This year Keilani has become the all-time leading pitcherin wins or the Sooners with 116 wins. With more games to come, she will shatter that record, which was previously held by JennierStewart. Keilani has thrown three no-hitters this year, giving her our in her career as she is tied now with Lauren Eckermann or the mostin Sooner history.

With the bat, Ricketts is just a dangerous with tremendous power at the plate, currently batting .419 with 10 home runs and 31 runsbatted in. Pitchers not only have to deal with acing her heads up in the circle, but also have to see her at the plate. She can help her owncause when she is pitching!

Rickettss battery mate is no slouch at the plate either. Jessica Shults is the leader in Big 12history with 59 home runs, and she just keeps adding to her total this year with ve homeruns so ar. Shults is just another one o the Sooners big bats that the opposing pitcher has tomake a decision on pitching to not an easy task with the video game numbers the Soonersare putting up.

Shults may lead the Big 12 right now ormost home runs, but hot on her heels is herteammate Lauren Chamberlain. SophomoreChamberlain is currently sitting at 51career home runs as a sophomore yes, asophomore. Chamberlains power numbersare ridiculous. Three times in her career,Lauren has hit home runs in our consecutivegames. The sky is the limit or this power-swinging Sooner.

A key to helping the Sooners get over thehump may be a transer that could be thebiggest recruiting job Coach Gasso hashad in the last ew years. Shelby Pendley, the sophomore transer rom the Universityo Arizona, led Arizona in every oensivecategory as a reshman. Pendleys glove andbat could be that extra spark or the Sooners.

There are so many contributors on this teamthat I could go on or pages and pagesbragging about the pitching that is leading

the nation in ERA at 1.07, paced by Ricketts and the Gas Can Michelle Gascoigne.Gascoigne, Ricketts and the bats or the Sooners should have this team back at ASAhoisting a trophy and the second title or Gasso at the end o the season.

For the Sooner baseball program, Sunny Golloway hasa charge to make it to Omaha every year. A trip to the Series and trips to Super Regionals have given the Soonthe country as a program that is to be recognized acroslandscape and taken seriously every year as a contend

This year is no dierent or Golloway and the Sooners. o young talent and veteran leadership, the Sooners havin a good position to host a regional this year and makOmaha.

When you talk baseball now with the new BBCORE bachanged college baseball, they take away the big blastthat many ans becameaccustomed in seasons past. The new bats have put theemphasis on pitching anddeense. Luckily or the

Sooners this year, they probably have the best one-two punch o pitchers in all college baseball.

The season started with the lanky lety Dillon Overton as the Friday starter. Shortly ater the seasonstarted, Coach Golloway switched to big Jonathan Gray. Gray is a big, imposing gure on themound and has been nothing less than stellar this year. Putting together a 6-1 record with 81strikeouts and an ERA o 1.19, Gray has been moving up the Baseball Americas drat projections. Now sitting in the top 10 in the rst round, Gray is the type o pitcher every major league managerwould love, a power pitcher that can eat up many innings. Gray needs to continue to pitch strong ithe Sooners look to make that trip to Omaha.

Grays running buddy, Overton, the lety, has a 2.20 ERA with a 7-2 record and has made themove to Saturday fawlessly and has been just a dominant. When you can throw guys like Gray

and Overton on Friday and Saturday, you have a great chance at winningevery series you have.

The bullpen has been just as good attime. Coach Golloway has the luxurywhen Gray and Overton go deep ingames to make the entire sta resh orSunday games and mid-week gamesas well. The breath o resh air has

been the young man rom Broken Arrow, Jacob Evans. Evans is 5seven saves and an ERA o 1.34 in 19 a ppearances. When you like that in this type o baseball, expect the Sooners to be in ever ystretch.

Oensively the Sooners have run into some struggles as o late. Tbeginning o the year was Matt Oberste. Oberste is still the team with nine homeruns and 43 runs batted in. Oberste has cooled oplay has started. He was held hitless in the series against Texas, b

the rst time over the Long Horns since 1997 made that palatable or the Sooner slugger.

The young Sooners have made their mark and will need tocontinue to improve as the year nears a close and the Big 12tournament draws near Junior Hector Lorenzana batting .271with 39 hits, reshman Craig Aikin batting .282 and 15 runsbatted in, and Freshman Hunter Haley batting .258 and havingrecently ound the power with a couple home runs in his lastew games.

These youngsters with Max White, Oberste and Jack Mayeldwill need to pick up the pace at the plate and give the dominantarms some help i this team wants to make that trip to Omahain June. Can they do it? O course they can, but i they willactually do it is an entirely dierent question.

The Sooner baseball and sotball teams are both riding highand should have some incredible endings to the year. Soonernation is hoping to make a strong showing at ASA Hall o FameStadium and at TD Ameritrade Stadium in Omaha, wearing theCrimson and Cream and shouting Boomer Sooner in hopes oGasso and Golloway hoisting trophies. Enjoy the sun and un othe diamond, Sooners.
