PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Welcome to the 2012/2013 Season. Coral Wing and Shirley Newman Life Members of this Centre are no longer on the Centre Executive. With their departure goes many years of dedication and experience. On behalf of all members of the Centre our thanks for their commitment and we hope they now get many opportunities to play. This year’s Program provides for an expanded Interclub program, entry to the National Club Championships via your Senior Men and Ladies Club Championships and Champion of Champion events. Centre Open Tournaments will be run over three days, three tournaments over long weekends, and two others in April include a work Monday. All of these tournaments should attract entries from outside the Centre. Format, conditions of play and prizes are attractive and we expect good entries. A closer relationship with country clubs is an objective of the executive and some greens will be used for Interclub and Champion of Champs. The Centre have agreed to a new website being provided, expected to be up and running by Labour weekend. This will provide up to the minute results, news and keep all better informed. The Centre wish to play a role in attracting new members to our sport and under the banner of Family, Friends and Neighbours will be promoting an event on Saturday or Sunday afternoons for non members to play in. This event will be played twice monthly between 1-30 and 4-30pm and played in the months of November and December. More details will be supplied later so keep an eye on the notice board. All of the above is not possible without the help of our sponsors and advertisers. We are indebted to the companies featuring in this Handbook and to Property Brokers and Julia Wallace for their continued support of our playing program. This season we add another sponsor to our playing program Specsavers who have made funds available so that changes we believe are necessary can be achieved, many thanks from us all. We have set some goals, a happy and successful season, plenty of new members and a zero budget. On behalf of the Executive may you all have an enjoyable season, some luck and good health. Sincerely, Phil Skoglund President.

CONDITIONS FOR CHALLENGES 1. All games are 21 ends, no time limit, except Takaro Cup which is 15 ends, no time limit. In the event of a drawn game, the trophy remains with the holders, except the Ainslie Shield where one game is lost, one game won, and the differential becomes effective. 2. Challenges are to be played on the day set down. If conditions prevent this, the playing day must be mutually agreed to by the holding club and the challenging club, but must be played before the date of the next challenge. Any club unable to play on the set day or agreed day shall forfeit the game. Any forfeiture or intention to forfeit must be notified to the opposing club and the Challenge Trophy Convenor, at a time not to inconvenience the next Challenge Round. 3. Winners in each case must contact the next challenge within 48 hours and arrange for the next match. Clubs failing to do this will automatically default and must arrange for the trophy to be forwarded to the challenger prior to next game. Immediately following every match the winning club must forward the result directly to the Convenor. 4. In the event of weather making play impossible on the day listed, or on the following day, should the clubs have agreed to play on the later day, the challengers will have their challenge transferred to the end of the list. The holders will then contact the next challenger and at the same time advise the Convenor. 5. In the event of a challenge being rained out, provided that 15 ends have been played, the result at that stage will count. If only 14 ends have been played and then rained out, the holders will retain the trophy. 6. If the holder of a Centre Trophy at the beginning of the season is beaten, that club shall not have the customary final challenge.
