Botts was with his wife Lizzie Coleman After several attempts to gainadmission to the room the Arnoldwoman opened the door when Colemansearched the house He found his wifeconcealed behind the door As thewoman ran out the door Coleman kicked her into the street and she disappeared in the darkness Coleman thenturned his attention to Botts andslashed him with a Barlow knife theblade of which is about three incheslong Coleman claims that Botts attempted to draw a gun before he cuthim Botts fell upon the porch of thehomse where he died few minutes afterwardsOfficer
Burke soon arrived upon thescene and placed Coleman under arrest
