Welcome to the MortgageHub LenStar Borland Database Engine Installation— a guide to help you install the Borland Database Engine.

LenStarLenStar allows both lenders and attorneys, who are involved in servicing loans in foreclosure and bankruptcy, to share information quickly and easily. In addition to providing an increased capacity to react to compliance issues before penalties are assessed, LenStar also provides improved information management for the lender and attorney via online Worklists.

Installing the Borland Database Engine

OverviewThe Borland Database Engine (BDE) is Borlandʹs native data access engine. LenStar is using this feature because of a strategic initiative to reduce our reliance on third‐party software. The BDE is must be installed on each computer that runs the latest version of Order Entry. By running the registry updates on each user computer, that computer can access the BDE that is located on the server instead of having a local copy installed.

This installation is required to allow our customers requiring multiple instances (more than 5) of any updated, MSP or MortgageServ‐compatible version of Order Entry at any given point in the business day. Therefore, we are asking that all of our clients with MSP or MortgageServ and LenStar upgrade their servers with this package.

Included in this package is the BDE.zip file. This file contains the install package, registry settings, and the application (with source) that will update the registry on usersʹ computers.

The following files are included in the BDE.zip file:

BDEInfoSetup.exe—executable that will install the full BDE

BDESettings.reg—the registry settings that are affected by the BDE

Bdedeploy.txt—file contains a list of DLL files that will be installed

Install.dpr—Delphi source for application that will update registry entries on user PCs

Default.ini—file that contains the BDE setting to be applied on each computer

Install.exe—application to update BDE registry settings

This installation includes the following tasks:

The following sections provides the steps necessary to complete the tasks listed above:


Installing the Borland Database Engine ServerTo install the Borland Database Engine Server

1 Locate the LenStar network folder on your computer’s hard drive where users have READ/WRITE access to LenStar components.

2 Create a subfolder under the LenStar folder named BDE.

Note The BDE folder should be shared.

3 Double‐click the BDE.zip file. The Winzip program that contains the BDEInfoSetup.EXE and the other files need for the installation opens.

4 Extract the files to the BDE folder created in step two of this installation.

5 Double‐click the BDEInfoSetup.exe program to begin the server installation.

6 The Welcome screen appears:

7 Click Next. The Installed Components screen appears:

8 Click Next. The Select BDE Folder screen appears:

The Engine Folder file path must be specified. We recommend using the LenStar\BDE folder created in step two of this installation.

9 Click Next. The Ready to Install screen appears:

10 Click Next. All of the necessary components are installed. When the installation is complete the Installation Complete screen appears:

The Borland Database Engine is successfully installed on the appropriate server.

Installing the User DesktopIn order to install the user desktop, you must have Administrative rights on the machine in which you are installing the user desktop.

To install the User Desktop

1 Using a text editor like Notepad, open the default.ini file located in the LenStar\BDE folder.

2 Change the DLLPATH and CONFIGFILE01 entries to reflect the UNC file path where you installed the server. For example, \\servername\LenStar\BDE.

3 Save the default.ini file and close the file.

4 Copy the default.ini file and install.exe files to the LenStar folder found on each user workstation that will be utilizing the Order Entry component of LenStar.

Note If this installation is for a new user desktop, you must first install the baseline LenStar files before continuing. Steps for installing the LenStar files are not covered in this document.

5 From the user workstation, double‐click the install.exe file.

6 Select File > Open BDE INI File.

7 Select the default.ini file.

8 Click the plus (+) next to the Database Engine tree. Verify the DLLPATH and CONFIGFILE01 values are the designated page that you entered in step two of this installation.

9 Select File > Apply to Registry.

10 When the settings have been successfully applied to the registry, the following window appears:

11 Click Yes to run a basic BDE initialization test. If the test is successful the following screen appears:

12 The Administrator should log off of the computer. The user should log on to the computer and verify they can log on to the Order Entry application.
