Boris and Sid are going on holiday. They are going camping.

So exciting!

Wow! What a campsite. “There is sea and sand and rocks to climb,” cries Boris.

“And there is no-one here except us!” says Sid. They are so happy.

But that night it rains. It pours. It hails.

The water comes down in buckets!

In the morning it is still raining.

“Let’s go to a café for breakfast,” suggests Boris.

“Then we can dry out!” Sid agrees.

Boris and Sid enjoy their breakfast. But it is still raining.

“Let’s go to a museum,” suggests Boris.

“Then we can stay dry!”Sid agrees.

Boris loves the dinosaurs in the museum. Sid loves the fossils. So they are both very

interested in the skeletons. They are both happy all morning.

When they come out of the museum it is still raining!

“Oh dear,” says Sid.“Oh dear, oh dear!” says Boris.

“Let’s go to the café for lunch,” suggests Boris. “Then we can stay dry!” Sid agrees.

But when they have finished lunch, it is STILL raining.

“Oh dear,” says Sid.“Oh BOTHER!” says Boris loudly.

“I hate the rain!”

“It’s alright,” says Sid, soothing Boris. “We can go to the shops and look round.”

“But I don’t really like shopping,” complains Boris.

“But at least we will be dry,” points out Sid.

Boris and Sid look at lots of toys.

Then they look at clothes.Finally they look at furniture.

When they come out of the shops, it is still raining.

They go back to the tent feeling very sad.

“Shall we go to the café for our tea?” suggests Boris. “Then we won’t get any

wetter.” “No Boris,” says Sid sadly. “We have run out of money. We will have to cook our

own tea here.”

It takes ages to get the stove to light. The sausages get all watery. The beans are very runny.

There is nowhere to stay dry.

Boris and Sid are very fed up.“This is not a good holiday!” grumbles Boris. “I

hate camping!” “Me too,” Sid agrees. “I hate being wet!”

“Let’s go to bed,” suggests Boris.“Yep, ok,” says Sid.

Boris and Sid get into their sleeping bags. “My sleeping bag is wet!” cries Boris.

“So is mine!” cries Sid. “There is water coming into our tent!”

Boris points to a stream of water on the tent floor.

“And it is dripping from the roof!” Sid shows Boris.

“This is all your fault,” cries Boris. “It was you who suggested coming

camping!” “It wasn’t me, it was your idea!”

shouts Sid. “I wanted to go and stay with Granny!”

“No you didn’t!” Boris is furious. “This was all your idea!”

“IT WAS NOT!” shouts Sid.

The tent poles creak.The tent sways.

Then one end collapses on Boris and Sid, covering them in wet canvas!

It takes Boris and Sid AGES to get the tent back up.

They are both extremely cold and wet and tired when they crawl into their damp sleeping bags

later that night. They do not sleep very well.

In the morning it is still raining.

“Boris,” says Sid, “we are both wet and cold. I think we should go for a swim!”

“I agree!” replies Boris.“Let’s do it! Come on!”

“The sea is warm!” cries Sid.“It is LUSH!” shouts Boris.

“This is amazing fun,” Boris is surfing the waves.

“It is brilliant,” agrees Sid, “we have the whole sea to ourselves.”

When Boris and Sid come out of the sea, the rain has stopped. The sun has come out and it is

growing hot.

“Guess what, Boris,” says Sid, “I love camping.” “Yes Sid, so do I,” agrees Boris. “It was a great

idea to come!”
