Accessories.

Car audio All vehicles are specified with a standard fit audio system, and you can also choose from a variety of in-car CD players. Front-loading tuners allow you toinsert the music software from the drivers or front passengers seat into the dash-mounted player. Alternatively, a 6 disc CD autochanger can be installedand controlled from the audio unit mounted on the dashboard.

For ease of operation, audio units offer RDS/EON a sophisticated service from FM radio stations. Sets equipped with this system will display the nameof the station you are tuned to, automatically retune your current National FM station to a stronger alternative signal when reception becomes weak andprovide traffic information. Local traffic bulletins will interrupt the tape, CD or National FM station you are listening to.

Vehicle securityVolkswagen offers a range of high quality security products to enable you to further enhance the standard protection features offered by your vehicle.

A range of electronic alarms allows a system to be tailored to your requirements. The Volkswagen approved range is fitted by fully trained techniciansand the complete alarm and immobiliser combination is recognised by some major insurers who may offer premium discounts when fitted. Please ask your retailer for further details.

Your retailer can install a choice of TRACKER systems to help the police locate your car and return it to you should you be unfortunate enough to haveyour car stolen.

The Volkswagen Warranty

Three-year WarrantyAll Volkswagen passenger cars come with a three-year/60,000 miles warranty, which protects your car against the failure of most mechanical and electrical components due to manufacturing defects. This comprises a two-year manufacturers warranty with unlimited mileage plus a further one-year/60,000 miles (whichever is soonest) Retailer Warranty. Should the mileage exceed 60,000 miles within the first two years, the manufacturers two-year warranty will still be valid. If an additional warranty for subsequent years or higher mileage is desired, it may be purchased from an authorisedVolkswagen retailer or repairer; however, this additional warranty must be purchased before the mileage reaches 60,000. Full details of the three-yearwarranty are available from your authorised Volkswagen retailer or repairer.

Body Protection WarrantyThe internal body sections and panels of the Bora are covered against rusting through from the inside for 12 years. Naturally, the vehicle must be cared for in compliance with the operating instructions. Please consult your authorised Volkswagen retailer or repairer for full warranty details.

Three-year Paintwork WarrantyThis latest warranty, pioneered by Volkswagen, really provides you with the widest possible cover on a new car.

There are no special conditions attached and paintwork manufacturing defects will be rectified without charge. Naturally, during the warranty periodthe car must be cared for in compliance with the operating instructions.

Service intervals for petrol and diesel enginesVolkswagen has always been dedicated to protecting the environment. Thats why the Bora comes with a LongLife Service regime. As a result of longerservice intervals the engine oil requirement can be significantly reduced over the vehicles total life, which results in less waste oil to dispose of and reduces the burden on the environment.

The LongLife Service regime is so called because there are no set service intervals. The interval between services, depending on how you drive your vehicle and the conditions of use, can be anywhere from 9,000 miles up to a maximum of 31,000 miles* or 24 months (whichever is soonest). The Service Interval Display in the instrument panel will indicate when a service is required.

This LongLife Service regime has been made possible due to the development of new Volkswagen engines with the latest technically advanced long-life oils. These engines use built-in sensors that continually monitor the oil quality, making it possible to enjoy reliable and confident motoring for up to a maximum of 31,000 miles* or 24 months (whichever is soonest).

If you would like a more traditional service regime the vehicle can be adapted by your authorised Volkswagen retailer or repairer to the Time/Distanceregime. This can be done at the point of vehicle sale or when an inspection service is carried out.

* The maximum of 31,000 miles is for diesel engines petrol engines have a maximum of 18,000 miles or 24 months (whichever is soonest). All mileagesare approximate as the system uses kilometres as the distance measure.

Vehicle Excise Duty (VED).

All vehicles first registered on, or after, 1st March 2001 are subject to a new form of Vehicle Excise Duty (Road Fund Licence). This new duty is based uponthe type of fuel the vehicle uses and its carbon dioxide (CO2 ) emissions level, measured in grams per kilometre (g/km). To help you identify the duty you will pay, the DVLA has created six categories for petrol engines and six categories for diesel engines.

The weight of a vehicle will influence the level of CO2 emission it produces; as a result, vehicles with higher levels of specification and factory-fitted optionsmay emit higher levels of CO2.

The CO2 figure quoted for each vehicle is the maximum possible. The unladen weight of the vehicle is calculated by range at the time of manufacture andthe maximum possible CO2 emission for that weight range is applied according to the Council Directive 80/1268EEC as amended by Commission Directive1999/100/EC on the approximation of the laws of the member states relating to the carbon dioxide emissions and the fuel consumption of motor vehicles.
