Ku-ring-gai Council’s Vacation Care Program offers children aged 5 - 14 years a wide variety of arts, crafts, games, sports, excursions and educational experiences during the NSW DET school holidays. We have age-appropriate activities in a safe, secure and caring environment with staff supervision at all times.

st ives kids klub &West pymble kids klub St Ives Kids Klub and West Pymble Kids Klub provide a range of centre-based activities and excursions targeted for children aged 5-9 years (but open for children 10-12 years). Children participate in a wide variety of fun, planned, age-appropriate activities, supervised by experienced staff in a safe and caring environment. The program also offers excursions within the Sydney metropolitan area each week.

kids getaway Kids Getaway is recommended for children aged 9 - 14 years. It provides excursions to a variety of different locations around Sydney and beyond, supervised by experienced staff. There are also centre-based activities and workshops including arts and crafts, sport, table tennis, videos, music, board games, Play Station, pool table, Wii and more!

We only accept children Who are 8+ yearsrecommended age: 9 - 14 years

standard hours: 7.45am - 6pm

daily Fee: $45 + excursion and workshop costs (compulsory on workshop and excursion days)

Facilities: Large hall, close to sports facilities including oval, tennis courts, skate ramp and shopping centre. Indoor facilities include a kitchen, pool table, Wii, television and table tennis.

note: Children can bring money for lunch on in-centre days as they have the option of visiting the St Ives Shopping Village to buy lunch. Staff will encourage children to make healthy food choices.

8+years only

allergies and medicationsParents are required to inform us of any allergies or medications their child has when enrolling and registering at the centre. Parents are requested to explain known triggers and symptoms to help us recognise and treat allergies or conditions. Efforts will be made to avoid exposure to the known cause.

anaphylaxis: If any child is known to have a nut or anaphylactic reaction or episode to any allergy, it is very important parents provide us with a current colour action plan (include a recent colour photo).

asthma: If any child is known to have asthma, it is very important parents provide us with a current action plan and bring medication to the centre each day.

medication can only be administered by staff with written permission and medication that has been prescribed by a doctor. Over the counter medications such as paracetamol and cough medicine will only be administered if accompanied by a doctor’s letter. Should your child require medication, you must complete a medication authorisation form at the centre.

special needsAll children are welcome to participate in this program. However, if your child has special needs, we ask that you contact the Vacation care coordinator prior to enrolling your child on 9424 0904. Spaces for children, including those with additional needs, may be limited due to factors including staffing requirements, centre capacity and availability of government subsidies.

What to bring Drink in a screw top container suitable for refilling with water Children are requested not to bring electronic games, valuable items, money and toys. Ku-ring-gai Council is not responsible for lost or damaged items. A spare change of clothes in case of accidents

Children are encouraged to wear appropriate sun-safe clothing at all times throughout the year – an appropriate hat (6cm broad brim or flap hat), clothing that covers shoulders and backs, collars and sleeves and closed-in shoes - no thongs.

allergiesdue to an increased number of children with severe allergies, children are not permitted to bring food containing nuts.

How wIll I know IF my BookIng Is ConFIrmed?

All bookings will be confirmed in writing within 14 days. if you have not received confirmation within this timeframe, contact us. Places are limited, excursions and workshops fill quickly, so book early to avoid disappointment.

terms and conditions arrivals/departuresIt is a legal requirement that parents sign their child in and out each day. Children will only be permitted to leave the centre when accompanied by an adult nominated on the enrolment form. Written notification is required to allow another person to collect your child.

sun protection We have a strict no hat no play policy. Please send your child to the centre with appropriate sun protection, which includes: • An “appropriate hat” should have a broad brim (6cm) and be either a legionnaire-style cap with a flap to protect the back and sides of the neck and ears, or a bucket/surfie style hat with a deep crown that sits low on the head.

• Children are encouraged to wear shirts and tops with collars and sleeves that cover the shoulders and back.

• Sunscreen will be available in the centre, however if your child is allergic to sunscreen please indicate this on your booking form and supply your own sunscreen.

refunds and cancellations No refunds or credits are available unless a medical certificate is provided. Excursion and workshop costs are non-refundable.

late collection fees Parents arriving to collect their child after 6pm will be charged a late fee of $1 per minute per child. If the child has not been collected by 6.15pm the parent will be charged an additional fee of $2 per minute per child until the child is collected.

MealsMorning/afternoon tea and lunch are not provided unless specified in the program. Children should bring adequate food and drinks for the day. Products containing nuts are not permitted.

excursions and centre workshops • Places are limited as we have higher staff-to-child ratios on

excursions. All excursions and workshops on the day are compulsory unless stated otherwise.

• Children must be at the centre by 8.30am on excursion days. • We have the following staff-to-child ratios in place:

kids klub: 1:10 for non-water, 1:5 for swimming kids getaway: 1:12 for non-water excursions, 1:8 for swimming

• Risk Assessments are completed for all excursions and are available in the centres or upon request.

• Programs, excursions and workshops may be changed to accommodate adverse weather conditions or due to unforeseen circumstances. Changes will be noted near the parent sign in/out area, as soon as possible.
