~What are you doing? ~Qu ests haciendo?
~Im writing a letter. ~Estoy escribiendo una carta.
~Whats happening? ~Qu pasa? (Lit.: Qu est pasando?)
~Theres a man running up the street.
planes u organizado programas:
Im going to London tomorrow. Me voy a Londres maana.
Where are you going on Monday?
~Where are you going? ~Dnde vas?
~Im going out to lunch. ~Voy a salir a almorzar. (lit.: estoy yendo)
~Where is he going? ~Dnde va (l)?
~Hes going to work. ~(l) va al trabajo. (lit.: est yendo)
Para contestar de manera sencilla se puede utilizar go out con la idea general de salir:
~Where is she going? ~Dnde va (ella)?
~Shes going out. ~(Ella) va a salir.
No confunda out con outside.
He is outside the house. He is inside the house.
(l) est fuera de la casa. (l) est dentro de la casa.
outside
inside
Were going outside. Im going inside.
Vamos fuera. (de algn lugar) Voy dentro. (de algn lugar)
-
Im going to the bank. Voy al banco.
Im going to work. Voy al trabajo.
Im going to have lunch. Me voy a almorzar.
Este ltimo se suele acortar a:
Im going to lunch.
Hes coming back here tomorrow. Vuelve aqu maana.
Hes going back there next year.
come + back volver/regresar
go + back volver/regresar
Im coming back later. Vuelvo ms tarde.
Im going back later. Vuelvo ms tarde.
mismo lugar (come back):
soon. Vuelvo pronto.
Im coming back at two oclock. Vuelvo a las dos.
after lunch.
donde estaba antes (go back):
later. Vuelvo ms tarde.
Im going back at half past two. Vuelvo a las dos y media.
after my coffee.
-
7 ~Lets come back to Majorca next year. ~Volvamos a Mallorca el prximo ao.
~No, lets go back to Venice. ~No, volvamos a Venecia.
Para preguntar cundo regresa alguien se utiliza when. La respuesta evitara repetir el verbo:
~When are you coming back? ~Cundo vuelves?
~(Im coming back) tonight, after work.
verbo go).
utilizan frecuentemente:
Observe el siguiente dilogo:
~Where are Timothy and Jill? ~Dnde estn Timothy y Jill?
~Theyve gone on holiday.
~Wheres Kate? ~Dnde est Kate?
~Kate has gone to lunch. ~Kate ha ido a almorzar.
singular
I
Hes gone to lunch.Ha ido a almorzar.
you
hesheit
have(ve)
has(s)
gone have(ve)
plural
we
Theyve gone home.Han ido a casa.
you
they
gone
-
8
Lo que sera como si dijramos:
~Kate has gone to lunch and she hasnt come back.
~Kate ha ido a almorzar y no ha vuelto.
04 Cmo expresar dnde ha estado alguien
Como acabamos de ver, have gone se utiliza si queremos decir que alguien ha ido a algn sitio y an no ha
vuelto. Tambin podemos expresarlo de forma parecida utilizando have + not + come back:
Kate has gone to Bobs (and she hasnt come back).
Kate ha ido a casa de Bob (y no ha vuelto).
Lo que equivaldra a decir:
Kate hasnt come back from Bobs.
Kate has been to Bobs.
Kate has gone to Bobs and she has come back.
singular
I
Shes been to the shops.(Ella) ha estado de compras.
you
hesheit
have(ve)
has(s)
been have(ve)
plural
we
Weve been on holiday.Hemos estado de vacaciones.
you
they
been
-
905 Diferencias entre gone y been
Sam has gone to California. Sam ha ido a California (y sigue all).
Sam has been to California.
Larry has gone to the doctors.
Polly has been to the dentists.
Larry is at the doctors.
Polly has come back. Polly ha vuelto (ha estado y ha vuelto).
Recuerde las preposiciones to, at, in y on.
to the park. en el parque.
Hes been at my brothers. (l) ha estado
en casa de mi hermano.
in prison. en la crcel.
on holiday. de vacaciones.
to the park. al parque.
Hes gone
to my brothers. (l) ha ido a casa de mi hermano.
to prison. a la crcel.
on holiday. de vacaciones.
06 Cmo hacer preguntas con gone y been
Para hacer preguntas con gone y been se invierte el orden entre el sujeto y el verbo auxiliar have/has:
sujeto + have + participio have + sujeto + participio
He has gone out. Has he gone out?
They have been to lunch. Have they been to lunch?
-
10
Yes, he has. Yes, they have.
No, he hasnt. No, they havent.
~Where has Mr Old gone? ~Dnde ha ido el Sr. Old?
~Hes gone to lunch. ~Ha ido a almorzar.
~Where has he gone to lunch? ~Dnde ha ido a almorzar?
~Hes gone to Pepes caf.
have/has gone.
~Where have they been? ~Dnde han estado?
~(They have been) on holiday. ~(Han estado) de vacaciones.
~Where have they been on holiday? ~Dnde han estado de vacaciones?
~(They have been) to Rome.
New York? Nueva York?
Bobs? casa de Bob?
Have you ever been to a dance? Has estado alguna vez en un baile?
the seaside? la costa?
the opera? la pera?
Las respuestas cortas a estas preguntas son:
have
singular
Has he gone out?Ha salido (l)?
Has he been to school?Ha estado (l) en la escuela?
has
I
you
hesheit
gone...?
been...?have
plural
Have they gone home?Han ido a casa?
Have they been there?Han estado all?
we
you
they
gone...?
been...?

sujeto + will + infinitivo
I am twenty-one now. Ahora tengo veintiuno.
Ill be twenty-two next week. Tendr veintids la prxima semana.
Its Friday today. Hoy es viernes.
Itll be Saturday tomorrow. Maana ser sbado.
singular
I
Hell see you tomorrow.
(l) le ver maana.
you
hesheit
will(ll)
see will(ll)
plural
we
Theyll see Paris.
Vern Pars.
you
they
see
Yes, I have. S, he estado.
No, I havent. No, no he estado.
sujeto + will + infinitivo will + sujeto + infinitivo
He will cook lunch today. Will he cook lunch today?
Observe la tabla siguiente:
Veamos otros ejemplos:
Will he wait for you? (l) le esperar?
Will they arrive this evening? Llegarn esta noche?
will
singular
Will you go to Spain?
Irs a Espaa?
I
you
hesheit
go? will
plural
Will they go to France?
Irn a Francia?
we
you
they
go?
-
12
cortas negativas will not se acorta normalmente a wont:
Yes, he will. / No, he wont.
Yes, they will. / No, they wont.
palabras interrogativas when, what, who, etc. Por ejemplo:
~What time will you call me? ~A qu hora me llamars?
~Ill call you about seven. ~Te llamar alrededor de las siete.
~When will you be forty? ~Cundo cumplirs cuarenta (aos)?
~Ill be forty this Wednesday. ~Cumplir cuarenta este mircoles.
~Who will be there? ~Quin estar all?
~The manager will be there. ~El director estar all.
O se puede responder de forma acortada:
~About seven. ~Alrededor de las siete.
~This Wednesday. ~Este mircoles.
~The manager. ~El director.
09 Algunos usos de will
Se utiliza el futuro con will para:
Expresaralgoquevaaocurrirsinquemedielavoluntad:
Ill be thirty-five next week. Cumplir treinta y cinco la prxima semana.
Itll be dark in an hour. Estar oscuro dentro de una hora.
Expresaralgoquesedecidehacerenelmismomomentoenqueseesthablando:
Sit down Bob, Ill get you a drink. Sintate Bob, te traer una copa.
Ill have a cup of tea, please. Tomar una taza de t, por favor.
-
13
Im arriving on Friday at six oclock. Llego el viernes a las seis.
Ill arrive one day next week.
~Shall we go to Bobs tonight?
~All right. Ill see you there. ~De acuerdo. Te ver all.
~No. Ill meet you at your house. ~No. Te encontrar en tu casa.
~OK. Ill be home at six. ~Vale.
~What are you doing tonight? ~Qu vas a hacer esta noche?
~Im going to Bobs with Tom. ~Voy a casa de Bob con Tom.
~Oh! Ill come too. ~Oh! Ir tambin.
~Fine. Were meeting at my house. ~Bien. Nos encontramos en mi casa.
Referirseaintencionessinqueexistanplanesdefinitivosalrespecto:
Ill repair the car tomorrow. Maana arreglar el coche.
Theyll see him next week.
Ill carry your bag for you. Te llevo el bolso.
Ill open the door for you. Te abro la puerta.
