    Main Plot1. Exposition

    John was bored and lonely throughout his summer.

    Theres 2 weeks remained and nothing had been

    done. One day, he discovered a hole. He crawledinto it and found himself in a narrow tunnel that

    sloped down for several yards. Fear overcome his

    curiosity in the darkness and he decided to turn

    back with further equipped and also with company.

    2. Conflict

    In the tunnel, John warned everybody not to shoutbut Alan ignored. The least vibration caused fall of

    rock.

    Meaty was stuck in the narrow funnel but he washelped by the other members.

    As they went deep into it, they heard the sound of

    river deep down under them. That sound attracted

    them to explore more.

    3. Climax

    John decided to go down first with a rope tiedaround his waist and followed by Lightning while the

    other 3 members took charge of the rope at the

    other end.

    The rope used for them to go down then leap backfrom Meatys hand and over the edge of the shaft.

    The only lifeline between them had gone. John and

    Lightning were trapped.

    4. Falling action

    George found a way to save their friends but Alandisagreed. They quarreled.

    Meatys action provoked another display of Alans

    temper. They lost the only big electric lamp of Alans father.

    This turned Alan into misery.

    Alan flung Meatys torch into the depth of the cave.The only left was a dark lantern and caused them

    hard to walk in the dark.

    5. Resolution

    John and Lightning heard voices and people tappingat the other side of the thick wall. He realized that

    George was at work with intelligence. John and

    George tapped at different side and crash it.

    They reunited again and searched their way out of

    the cave together.

    Meaty took his responsibility on the electric lamp by

    following Alan home.John wished to know what creature lead him to the

    cave and hoped to explore more.

    1. SimilePg 1: He sat on the top of the rock like Napoleon

    on St. Helena, lonely and bored.

    : The sides of the cavern caught the sound,beat it like a redhot iron until it became hard and

    dangerous, and then flung it up for the third time,

    reinforced by a cluster of echoes, towards the roof.

    2. Hyperbolical

    Pg 16: The effect on Alan was spectacular. At first helistened with amused tolerance but as his

    imagination caught fire he grew more and more

    restless until at last he could contain himself nolonger.

    Pg 69: it is the darkness that comes down upon the

    brain, stops the breath in our bodies, and freezes our

    blood in terror.

    Pg 27: at that moment a gust of wind beat back from

    the hills and threw a scarf of mist in front of the

    rocks.

    now the bracken was dancing and heaving in alldirections, like a corn field in July.
