    d. Reaction or evaluation

This book is interesting because it is a story about a British intelligent agent named

James Bond who secretly spying and trying to bankrupt Le Chiffre who was the treasurer

of a French union and a member of the Russian secret service. The idea is pretty simple

which was tried to bankrupt Le Chiffre and prevent him funding any Russian mission.

The Bonds adventure was also full of tenseness, battling, and also romance between

Bond and Vesper. It makes the story not flat and boring.

money from its secret agent through gambling game. Here we can feel the atmosphere

of rivalry of agents who were paid to defend their nations. The romance between Bond

and Vesper can be something that can little bit release the tense in the middle of the

    story.

    b.

The setting influences the theme because it makes the story feels like alive.c. The setting is change there are varieties in place, atmosphere, and time. If there is no

change in the setting of the story, it will make the story not interesting enough for the

reader because it will flat. In the beginning of the story it was about the gambling game.

Then, it became tense when there were people who wanted to kill Bond. The romance

between Bond and Vesper also made the atmosphere cooler.

    CHARACTERIZATION

    James Bonds Character

but he didnt like to busy with woman when he was doing his job.

    b. Bond also a strong man. It can be seen in chapter 4 on page 20. When someone asked

    d.

Le Chiffrescharacter is cruel. He tried to kill Bond because he thought that Bond

blocked his way to do his plan. It can be seen in chapter 13 on page 47. He turned to

    4/5

    a. The theme of the book is spy.

    b. Two specific examples.

    1. He was an agent who can be paid.

Bond liked to work alone, but he didnt argue with M. Yes, sir, he said, and left the

room. Chapter 1 page 12.2. Vesper was kidnapped by Le Chiffre and Bond tried to release her.

It can be seen on page 40-50.

    c. The theme is not really affect with our life because the story happened in Cold War era

and it was in Europe. Because we are only university student, of course, this topic is our

department in the university. However, It is a good story and we feel entertain enough

about the plot of secret agents life.

    SYMBOLISM

    a.

The symbol of the book is James Bond. He is the symbol of loyal. It can be seen from hisresponsibility of doing his job. He has to be very careful in his job, it can be seen from

    CONCLUSION

    a. The effectiveness of the writing is powerful.

The story can make us imagine about the tense that happen in the story.

It can be seen from chapter 4 on page 24 An agent gave them the camera cases, she

went on. The blue case contains a smoke bomb, he told them. The red case is the

explosive. When one of you throws the red case, the other must press a switch on the

    blue case..

    b. The writers style of writing is simple. It is not use complicated word that can make

connotation meaning, but directly explain the denotative meaning that can be

understood by everyone even when the main character said something to his dating girl.It can be seen from chapter 10 on page 39 Its wonderful to be with you, he said. The

job is finished, and its a lovely end to the day.

    c. The weakness of the story can be found on in chapter 16 on page 61 when Bond said I

know all that I need to know until tomorrow, he said. And the next day and the next.

He poured some more champagne. You dont know much about me. I get confused

about these sentences because this is use connotation and I cant get the key words.

    d. Overall, the book is interesting and good. Casino Royale is a thin novel that packs a

wealth of suspense within its pages. Flemings prose is pleasingly crisp and direct,

colored with the occasionally unexpected flourish of a gorgeously descriptive passage or

metaphor. James Bond adventure is incredibly well-plotted, fast-paced, and

compulsively read-able . We recommend this book for adventurer and action storylovers.
