Welcome to The Bookbinderys presentation of our book repair and restoration work. We do hope you find it helpful in providing a guide to what we can do for your valued books.1

The Art Bible

www.thebookbindery.co.nz

This volume was badly damaged, especially at the top of the spine. New material has been inserted underneath all the old material to provide strength so that the volume can be used - yet the old look is retained.

The Adventures ofTom Sawyer

The spine of this volume had been long since lost, however the pictorial front was very nice so it was inset into the cover of a new hard cover. The spine was titled in gold to match the gold lettering of the front.

New Zealand Ferns

www.thebookbindery.co.nz

These two volumes of pressed ferns hadnt been bound together for years, and had been quite badly damaged through storage in ring binders. They are now returned to a beautiful condition, half-bound in leather.

Whites Aviation

www.thebookbindery.co.nz

This photo showing the old damaged cover and the rebound volume together has actually been turned upside-down so that the lettering is easier to read. Notice how close the new lettering is to the original lettering. The main difference is in Whites signature. Where lettering needs to be matched exactly a block (or die) needs to be made. This however, is generally a much more expensive option than using existing type, of which we have a big range.5
