Book of James , Lesson #9

When Life Seems Unfair James 5:7-12

* What is going on according to James 5:1-6?

* We all face unfairness. It is an inevitable part of life.

* Job 5:7; John 16:33; 2 Timothy 3:12

I. To Endure Unfairness, We Must Have P_______________

A. Literally mean’s “l______ spirit” or “not losing H_______”

B. We must apply this in at least two areas:

1. In our relationship with G__________ (Ja 5:7)

a. Many believed Jesus would return in their lifetime

b. Reward was coming but also punishment would come to those who mistreated God’s people

c. First and second coming were different (Mt 24:30; Re 1:7; 1 Th 4:16)

d. We must trust God (Ps 31:14-15; 2 Pe 3:9)

2. In our relationships with E_____ O_________ (Ja 5:9)

a. Some were turning against each other. This sin is never justified

b. When things get stressful, who do we lash out at?

c. See Ps 103:8; Ep 4:2-3

II. To Endure Unfairness, We Must Have P_______________

A. We must be like the P______________ of old (Ja 5:10)

B. We must C______________ seek the Kingdom of God (Mt 6:33; Ph 3:13-14)

C. Even in the midst of unfairness, we must keep W______ with and S_________ God (Ro 5:3-5; Ph 2:13; Ro 8:28)

D. Some G_________ can only occur through experiencing unfairness (examples of Dt 8:2-4 and Jn 11)

Do you believe that God will always work for the good in your life even as you face unfairness

and struggle? Will you always be faithful?
