I’m optimistic about 2021

We have the vaccine coming

out and the sun will come up

every day. MBS will be con-

tacting a few artists to tell

them that we will be inter-

ested in having them when

the time is right. Boerner

Visitor center still isn’t open

for the public but in time it

will be.

We are working on tentative

plans for an annual exhibit

in the fall. We have some

possible places to have it

and are checking in to it.

One of the exciting ideas is

to have it at Lynden sculp-

ture gardens out on the pa-

tio. We will see if that can

happen.

“So Don’t Delay…. Renew Today” By Pam W.

We are very lucky to have many distinguish bonsai enthusiast in our club. We have just a wealth of

knowledge available at meetings, workshops, and just generally available to us. Jack Douthitt, Steve

Carini, Ron Fortmann, Pam Woythal are just a few names of members with a boatload of experience.

We also have a new generation of bonsai enthusiast like Brian Susler and Keven Stoeveken. Brian ’s

presentation on Soji (winter clean-up) via Zoom was great. Who can forget Jack’s presentation on what

he has learned in the last 40 years when we were able to meet in person?

A reminder, despite the continuing economic conditions and COVID distancing, our membership has

held firm. In fact, we are looking forward to increasing our Club membership this year. What this means

is that you are more likely to mingle with bonsai enthusiast, to make new friends, and to enjoy the

glorious activities we have planned. So don’t delay…. Renew today.

MBS meeting, December 1, 2020

The December 1st MBS meeting took place via ZOOM; a first for the club. The virtual format seemed to work well as over 30 members took part in the meeting. A panel of members had various topics prepared to discuss and teach the rest of us about.

The topics ranged from how Bonne P chopped her ficus down as a experiment and the progress it has made in growing back to Jack D’s insect control tips. Steve C and Brian S had very informative segments on spraying prior to winter and Soji, respectively.

The evening ended with a decision to have another ZOOM meeting after the holi-days and new volunteers were asked to fill the panel. The next meeting will be communicated to everyone via email and in the newsletter. If you did not attend this first meeting, plan to give the 2nd a try.
