Opera Email Client configuration

Step 1

Launch Opera from Finder.

Step 2

From the Opera Menu at the top-left corner of the window, select Mail and Chat Accounts. 

Select Menu > Mail and Chat Accounts

Step 3

If this is your first time adding a mail account to Opera, you are prompted to create a new account. Click the Yes button.

If you already have a mail account configured in Opera, the Manage Accounts window will open and you will have to click the Add button. 

Click Yes

Step 4

Select Email as the type of account you would like to add and click the Next button.

 

Select Email and click Next

Step 5

Enter your name in the Real name text box. This is the name that others will see when receiving your mail.

Enter your full 1&1 e-mail address in the Email address text box. Enter an Organization name if applicable. Otherwise leave the text box blank.

Click the Next button to continue.

Enter the appropriate information and click Next

Step 6

Enter your full 1&1 e-mail address in the Login name text box. Enter your 1&1 e-mail account's password in the Password text box. Select the POP radio button. Click the Next button to proceed.

Enter the appropriate information and click Next

Step 7

Enter pop.1and1.com in the Incoming server text box. Check the box for Use secure connection (TLS). Enter smtp.1and1.com in the Outgoing server text box. Check the box for Use secure connection (TLS).

Click the Finish button to complete the e-mail account setup. 

Enter the appropriate information and click Finish

Step 8

The Mail sidebar should open in the Opera window and your newly added 1&1 e-mail account should be listed in the sidebar. Click the account to view the e-mail folders such as the Inbox. 

You are now connected to your e-mail account

Optional: Enabling SSL for incoming mail

Step 1

From the Opera Menu at the top-left corner of the window, select Mail and Chat Accounts. 

Select Menu > Mail and Chat Accounts

Step 2Select your 1&1 e-mail account from the list and click the Edit button. 

Select your e-mail account and click Edit

Step 3

In the new window that opens, select the Servers tab. 

Select Servers

Step 4

For the Incoming POP server, enter Port number 995 and select Secure Connection (TLS).

Click the OK button to save your changes. 

Enter the appropriate information and click OK

Step 5

Click the Close button to close the Manage Accounts window. 

Click Close

Step 6

Click the Check/Send button in the Mail sidebar in Opera to check and send your mail securely.

Click Check/Send
