Bill of Material is at the core of PLM for most manufacturing companies. Aras Innovator provides user friendly UI for structure browser of an Item up to nth level. However all the information in the BoM structure is visible to all types of users. Many times the Design Engineers want to view only the Engineering Bill of Material (EBoM), Manufacturing Engineers may want to view only the Manufacturing BoM(MBoM), Shipping department may want to see only the Shipping BOM(SBoM) and all of them may want a custom view of the BOM based on the effectivity dates and Revision (CBoM).TRANSCRIPT

MBOM EBOM
EBOM for this product may only have one line item
that lists the 6-32 screw with a quantity of 10
EBOM defines WHAT goes into the product MBOM Defines HOW the product is made
MBOM contains all the parts and assemblies
required to build a complete product. EBOM defines the product as designed
MBOM drives the ERP, MRP and
manufacturing execution systems The engineering BOM will not provide any
info about how parts relate to each other.
If a product has ten M6 screws, each screw is
listed in the MBOM in the subassembly where it
is used
The major differences between the manufacturing bills of material (MBOM)
and the engineering bills of material (EBOM) are in their Structure and Depth
