Life cycle The baby dolphin has just been born.His mother and auntie push him very quickly to the surface because he has to breathe air straightaway. Dolphins are mammals like you and me. The live in the water like fish but they are warm-blooded and they give their little ones milk. He is still very fragile and therefore has to drink a lot of milk so that he can grow very, very quickly. The baby dolphin stays near his mother and within the family for a long time, at least ten to fifteen years. There is so much to learn before becoming an adult!
