April 12, 2021 The Honorable Ken Calvert United States House of Representatives 2205 Rayburn House Office Building Washington, D.C. 20510 RE: SUPPORT LETTER FOR THE TEMESCAL CANYON ROAD WIDENING PROJECT
BETWEEN TOM BARNES AND EL CERRITO ROAD Dear Congressman Calvert: On behalf of our business community, the CORONA Chamber of Commerce is encouraging you to support the widening project on Temescal Canyon Road between Tom Barnes Drive and El Cerrito Road, in the unicorporated community of El Cerrito, with a mailing address of Corona, CA. As you consider requests for the Surface Transportation Bill, we strongly urge your support this crucial project which will widen this corridor from two (2) to four (4) lanes and ease the congestion within the El Cerrito community and throughout the region. As the committee intends to only fund community projects on a limited basis, the CORONA Chamber requests this project to be one of the top priorities for funding. The proposed project is directly aligned with the long-term objectives of the 42nd Congressional District. As we focus on business expansion and attract more high-paying jobs to Riverside County, this project is a crucial part of the infrastructure needed for that type of expansion and urge your support.
We thank you, Congressman for your continual support of the business community and the progressive growth for our region.

April 14, 2021 The Honorable Ken Calvert United States House of Representatives 2205 Rayburn House Office Building Washington, D.C. 20510 Dear Congressman Calvert: The Corona-Norco Unified School District offers no bus transportation for students residing in the seven neighborhoods in the north end of the Temescal Valley community. Parents must drive their children to and from Santiago High School and/or El Cerrito Middle School, located in Corona and El Cerrito, respectively. Because of the early-morning commuter gridlock on the I-15 freeway, the preferred route is Temescal Canyon Road. As Temescal Valley grows – now an estimated population of 27,000, that narrow two-lane stretch between Tom Barnes Street and El Cerrito Road becomes as gridlocked as the freeway. It often takes parents 45-minutes to drive their students to school, a distance of less than four miles. It is for this reason we are asking you to please accept this letter of support for the Temescal Canyon Road widening between Tom Barnes and El Cerrito Road located in the unincorporated community of El Cerrito. As you consider requests for the Surface Transportation Bill, we strongly urge your support this crucial project which will widen this corridor from two (2) to four (4) lanes and ease the congestion within the El Cerrito and Temescal Valley communities. As the committee intends to only fund community projects on a limited basis, we request this project to be one of the top priorities for funding. The proposed project is directly aligned with the long-term objectives of the 42nd Congressional District. As we focus on business expansion and attract more high-paying jobs to Riverside County, this project is a crucial part of the infrastructure needed for that type of expansion and we urge your support. April 14, 2021 The Honorable Ken Calvert. United States House of Representatives 2205 Rayburn House Office Building Washington, DC 20515 Re: 2021 Surface Transportation Authorization Riverside County’s Temescal Canyon Road Widening Project El Cerrito Segment- SCAG FTIP Project ID: RIV150901A Dear Congressman Calvert, On behalf of the Riverside County Board of Supervisors we write in support of Riverside County’s request to secure an earmark for the Temescal Canyon Road Widening Project- El Cerrito Segment under the Congressional 2021 Surface Transportation Authorization Funding process. This project will enhance the quality of life for residents of Temescal Valley and have a positive impact on businesses as well as the health and safety of the general public. The requested $5 million in federal support would provide traffic congestion relief by widening the two-lane road to a four-lane highway and improve response times for emergency responders. Additionally, the road widening project would provide sidewalks for enhanced safety of children walking to El Cerrito Middle School. Also, this project would improve mobility for disabled persons traversing through the area by providing accessible sidewalks and curb ramps and pedestrian traffic signals. Furthermore, the Temescal Canyon Road Widening Project would provide an improved circulation route for commercial trucks and at the same time reduce vehicle emissions by reducing traffic congestion. Lastly, the Temescal Canyon Road Widening Project- El Cerrito Segment will accommodate planned infrastructure improvements consistent with the County of Riverside General Plan Circulation Element. For these reasons the Riverside County Board of Supervisors requests that the Temescal Canyon Road Widening- El Cerrito Segment Project be prioritized, and we respectfully ask for your support of this important project. Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact Deputy County Executive Officer Brian Nestande at (951) 955-1110 or [email protected]. Thank you very much for your favorable consideration of this request. Sincerely,
Karen Spiegel Jeff Hewitt Chair, Riverside County Board of Supervisors Vice Chair, Riverside County Board of Supervisors

This is a necessary fix where three other arteries, Foothill, Ontario, and TemescalCanyon Road, converge to a one lane
bottleneck next to the often-bottlenecked freeway. This artery improvement is vital to get our kids to school and for our
medical emergency services.

Traffic in the Valley is often a gridlock. More homes are being built and more people are moving in this direction in
search of affordable housing. This project would be one essential step to address traffic congestion.
