• Robert Nesta Marley, was born February 6, 1945, in Nine Mile, a small town north of Jamaica.

• Cedella Booker, an African woman based in Jamaica

• Norval Marley, a British army captain, who disowned his son.

In the late fifties, Robert moved with his mother to Kingston, the capital. It was the city where the inhabitants of rural areas went in pursuit of improving their economic situation. Unfortunately for most, their destination was the slums and miserable.

In 1963 he formed a group, 'Wailing Wailers', releasing a first single to reach number one in the Jamaican lists. Bob Marley became one of the first to write songs about young offenders Kigston ghetto.

• In the early seventies, joined forces with Lee Perry, a producer who revolutionized their work, resulting in some of his best works, like 'Soul Rebel', ‘Small Ax', '400 Years', and so on.

• 1975, The group became known as 'Bob Marley & The Wailers'. Bunny y Peter, Marcia Griffiths y Judy Mowatt

• In 1972, the group publishes its first album, 'Catch a Fire

• In 1973 came out his new album, 'Burnin‘

• In 1976 he published 'Rastaman Vibrations‘

• In 1978 he published 'Kaya', a new success with songs of love and homage to marijuana.

• The following year he released the album 'Exodus‘, No Woman, No Cry

• In 1980 he published 'Uprising', whose success was overwhelming, prompting a new European tour which broke all attendance records.

• Marley visit Africa and is inspired by the new albun called survival.

At the end of his European tour, Marley fell gravely ill with cancer, caused by an injury that was done some years earlier.

On May 11, 1981 Bob Marley died in a Miami hospital at age 36. His body was returned to his hometown of Nine Mile, where he lies in a mausoleum.
