Hi, I'm Bob Gass and I was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where I committed my life to Christ at the age of twelve. When I was eighteen I moved to America to work as an evangelist and pastor. In 1994, while visiting United Christian Broadcasters (UCB) in Stoke-On-Trent, God led me, along with my wife Debby, to write The Word For Today, daily devotional. UCB published the first edition, 3,500 copies, and God blessed and multiplied His Word. Today this quarterly devotional is read by over one million people in Britain and Ireland, and about 10 million people around the the world. To God be all the glory!

Two years ago we began broadcasting The Word for Today on TBN UK and TBN Europe in a joint venture with UCB. The programme is also aired daily in 64 African nations through TBN in Africa, and in 67 countries throughout Latin America via TBN‘s Enlace affiliate network. Additionally, we are now publishing Russian and Spanish editions of The Word for

Today (including 120,000 copies a year for Cuba), and the first Chinese language edition is scheduled for publication later this year.

I like to describe The Word for Today daily devotional as “the little book that whets people‘s appetite for the Big book” — God‘s Word, the Bible. My mission is to get people into God’s Word, and get God’s Word into them. When that happens, the Word, which is Holy Spirit-empowered, does the work!

We have received many remarkable stories of lives changed through The Word for Today. Here‘s just one tremendous example:

When a drug dealer in Brazil was offered a copy of the

devotional by a missionary, he laughed and asked if he

could use a page to roll a marijuana joint. The missionary

told him, “Yes, if you first promise to read it.”

He did, and committed his life to Christ. He went on to become a distributor of the devotional, and today he is in the ministry.

Over the past 25 years, Debby and I have made regular mission trips to Romania, where we help to rescue at-risk children from state-run orphanages, the streets, and sex trade. Recently we had the joy of opening a ten thousand square foot facility, called The Village of Hope, to care for and train these children. Each year this transitional home rescues over 250 children and places them into foster families, which we support and help. To date, at least 3,150 at-risk children have been rescued and their lives transformed.

Debby and I each sponsor a “TBN UK Minute” every month because the nation in which I was born desperately needs to hear God’s Word, and I consider it a privilege to work with TBN in doing it.
