Executive Summary

The Minnetonka Power Squadron is an active squadron engaged in numerous Civic Service events on and around our community of Lake Minnetonka. For the period between October 1 2015, and September 30 2016 our activities included: • 14 independent events on or around the lake • Supported two local charities (Feed My Starving Children, Second Harvest Food Shelf) • Continued our long term partnerships with the Boy Scouts of America, Hope Kids, the
Wayzata American Legion, and the Minneapolis Aquatennial and hosted them for youth day events at Streater Cove, our Lake Minnetonka Big Island property
• Participated in 3 parades and won “best in show for a non-profit” at the largest St. Patrick’s Day parade in the state of MN
• Had two members serve on boards that promote boating safety • Passed out hundred of safety brochures at boat ramps around the lake for Boat Safety week • Hosted a booth and the boating simulator at the Minneapolis Boat Show • Hosted a booth at the Lake Minnetonka Antique Boat Show • Conducted numerous presentations on ESD and conducted outreach at local marinas • Were represented in 1 TV spot, 2 articles in local papers, and published 3 safety articles • Promoted the USPS through our award winning website, and our Facebook page To support these events required 436 volunteers donating 3,653 hours of Civic Service!

Member Gabe Jabbour is on the LMCD Board of Directors, supports the Hennepin County Water Patrol, and is on the MN
DNR Aquatic Invasive Species Committee. Member Ed Lethert has lead the charge in District 10 to educate boaters on the hazards of
Electric Shock Drowning and is an active member of the ESDPA.

Numerous presentations on ESD were given to a number of organizations
throughout the year, and marinas around Minnesota were given safety literature
and display stands for their patrons
• Meetings with MN electrical authorities regarding ESD awareness and safety issues • ESD presentation to the Watergate Yacht Club • ESD presentation to National Electrical Reciprocity Association • ESD brochures delivered to several marinas in the Red Wing / Lake City area of MN • ESD and Vessel Safety Check presentation to the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Water Patrol • ESD presentation at Baycliffe Home Owner’s Association on Lake Minnetonka • Visits to various marinas in Minnesota and Wisconsin to promote ESD awareness, deliver
brochures, and warning signs • ESD presentation at a private home on Lake Minnetonka • Three ESD presentations at the MN State Fair
