Here are some tips to ensure that your boat is safe and secure.
• Thoroughly inspect the marina or the storage facility where your boat is stored.
• Install security cameras, intruder alarms and pressure mats on your boat.
• Install bilge-water alarm sensor, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and gas leak gas detector.

• Make sure to turn on the alarms when you’re below deck or away from the boat.
• Use well built and quality locks on all the doors, lockers and hatches. Use strong padlocks or rimlocks on all cockpit lockers.
• Ensure that the key is never left on the ignition even if you’re close by. Keep your ignition key and boat security keys separate.
• Prevent people from looking in by keep the curtains drawn.
• Get to know other boat-owners and keep an eye on their boats, as well as your own.
• Report any strangers acting suspiciously at the marina.
• Insure your boat to protect your boat and the items you keep on the boat in case they are stolen.
