FireAlarms

Currently,thereareinconsistentfirealarmpanelswithineachschoolsite.Halfofthedistrictschoolshavedifferenttypesoffirealarmsystemswithintheircampus.Whatthismeansisthatifthereisanalarminonebuilding,itdoesnotemitanyalarmintheadjacentbuilding.Inessence,wholesystemcoverageduringanactualalarmisnon-existent.

SecuritySystems

Currentsystemsareoutdated.Manyofthesecuritysystemsdatebacktothe1980’s.Securitycoverageisinconsistentschoolwidewithmanyaudiblealarmsnotfunc9onal.Wehavedamagedordefec9vesecuritysensorsacrossthedistrict.

Roofing

Wehaveongoingroofleaksdistrictwideandseveralroofsystemsarebeyondtheirlifeexpectancy.AtAmadorValleyHighSchool,wes9llhavetarandgravelroofsinseveralbuildings(BuildingsB,C,D,I,L)

HVACUpgrade

ThemajorityoftheHVACsystemsintheDistrictwereinstalledinthe1990’s.Manyaremorethan25yearsold.TheDistrict’snewestHVACsystemsareabout15yearsold.Indoorairqualityandenergyefficiencycanbesignificantlyimprovedwithnewersystems.

SchoolpainJng

Pain9ngisnecessarytopreservewoodenstructuresandprolongthebuildinglife.Inmanyofourschools,wehaveglulambeamsrobngawayanddelamina9ngduetolackofpreserva9onthroughrou9neandsystema9cpain9ngschedule.

PavingandAsphaltReplacement/Resealing

Pavingandasphaltsareanongoingsafetyconcern.Forexample,atPleasantonMiddleSchoolandatseveralotherschools,wehaveasphaltcracking,shicing,andmanyraisedconcreteareascrea9ngslipandfallinjuries.

 Tosupportthe21stcenturyclassroom,wewillneedtoupgradeourelectricalservicestoensurethatwehaveenoughpowertosupportnewequipment.

 Wehavehadundergroundleaksatsomeschoolsgivenouroldpipingsystems.Thereisaneedtohaveisola9onvalveswithintheschoolgrounds.

Alisallookslikeoneoftheoldestschoolsinthedistrictandneedstobeupdatedandmodernized.Inmyopinion,Alisalisinalotworseshapethanmostoftheelementaryschools.Sowhenyou'retalkingabouthavingequitydistrictwide,IthinkAlisalneedstobeatoppriority.Staffparkinglot!!Weneedmorespaces&aseparateentrancetoavoidtheschooldropoff/pickuptrafficmess.Havingtocircletheparkinglotseveral9mesinthemorningtoparkisanightmare.Badexteriorligh9ngatFoothill,campus-wide,needstobeaddressedsocampusfeelssafertowalkaroundacerdark,whichcanbeasearlyas4:30inwintermonths.Maintenanceandpaintexis9nginteriorwalls

Withschoolstar9nginmid-August,studentsneedmoreprotec9onfromtheheat-func9oningwaterfountainsandmoreshadestructures.AtDonlon,#15aboveiscri9cal.Ourclassrooms,library,andComputerLabcomputersaremostlyoutdated.WeneedmoreChromebookscartsalsosothattheportablesdon'thavetowheeltheprimarygradesoneallthewayfromourB-pod.NotsafefortheChromebooksORfortheteachers(It'sanaccidentwai9ngtohappen,andanaccidentcouldresultinaworkman'scompclaim)Safetyofstudentscomesfirstandkeepingschoolsingoodrepair.Also,eachschoolshouldhavespaceforspecialiststoworkandaplacewhenweatheristoohotorcold.Someschoolshaveplentyofclassroomsforextraeventsandothersdon'thaveenoughspaceforkindergartentohavetheirownroomsandreadingroomsforsharedguidedreadingsets.Someschoolsareverycrowded.Allschoolsshouldhavethespacetheyneedforspecialevents,poorweatherandteachersshouldnothavetoshareclassrooms.ThankyouInvestinbejerligh9ng,hea9ng,etc.toreduceenergyexpensesincludinggreenenergy.Whenconver9ngportablestopermanentstructureskeepinmindtheneedforteacherstocollaborateandtheneedtohavespaceforvolunteerstoworkoutsideoftheclassroom.BathroomfloorsreplacedintheK/TKbathrooms.Theyaresostainedwithyellowfrombeingurinatedonoverthelast16yearsitwon'tcomeout.Onceprojectsarecompletepleasemaintainthebuildsmoreocen.Don'tletthepaintandandwoodstructuresgettothisstate.Havebejerpestcontrol.

TheportablesatFairlandsareinbadshape:theyleakeveryyear,theyneedtobepainted,theyarerightnexttothelunchareawhichisverydistrac9ngandnoisy,theydonotholdheat,theaircondi9oner/fanisextremelyloud,theyareinfestedwithcockroaches,andmice,thepapertowelandsoapdispensersarebroken,andthedoorsdon'tsealclose.

Ourroofingisawful,mostofthe9mewehaveceiling9lesmissingaswaterdamagehasruinedthem.Weconstantlyhaveleaks.

Ifeelthepriori9eslistgeneratediscomprehensiveandaccuratelypinpointstheupgradesneededthroughoutthedistrict.

Ifeelthatourschoolcoulduseaninstantfacelicwithafreshcoatofpaint!IbelievetheLydiksenshouldbeonthetopofthelistforexteriorpain9ng.Ourschoolisdrabanddreary,unlikeschoolslikeFairlandsandWalnutGrovewhohavebeau9fulgreenish/turquoisetrim.Weneedtogetridofallthebrownandmakeourschoolfeelandlookinvi9ng,brightandcheery.

Coveringthelunchareaatalleightelementarysitesthatdonothavethisisamust.Thissavescustodial9meandresources.Reallywouldlovetoseetheelementaryschoolsgetafreshlook/paintjobtomakethemseemfunandinvi9ng.Alsowouldlovetoseemoreelectricalandnetworkplugsinclassrooms.

Ourcampusneedsamajorfacelic.Ourschoollooksandfeelsliketheoldest.Ourstudentsdeserveacleananamazinglookingschool.Ifeelthatourmanyofourstudentsliveinpoverty,ourschoolappearstobeaschoolofpoverty.Ourofficeneedstobedesperatelyreconfigured.Ourcampusdoesnotfeelsecure.OurMPRneedsblindsforsecurityandmul9media.Allwindowsshouldbecovered.ThePaintispeelinginseveralareasoftheschoolandlooksbad.ThenonskidflooringintheM.PRestroomsandthekitchenisthesameflooringthatwasreplacedinsomeoftheotherrestroomsbecauseitisdefec9vebutwasnotreplacedintheseareasyet.Theofficecarpetisveryoldandmajeddown.Thepefacility/weightroomisanembarrassment.Itisfilthyandtherearetoomanykidsinasmallspaceforaschoolthissize

Providinganexpansionforthemusicprogramwillalleviatedemandacerschool.EitherbuildingabiggerBandRoomorprovidinganaddi9onalmul9-purposeroomorgymwillhelppreventconflictsinfacilityneedsacerschoolandduringtheday.Men'srestroominmainofficeisforevers9nkyNeednewin-housespeakersystems,presenta9onprograms/projec9onsystems,etc.

Ibelievethatupgradingandreplacingclassroomandlibrarytechnologyisextremelyimportantforourstudents.

WehaveaGoogleDoc/Drivewithdetailsofallprojectsneeded.Weneedaconcertedefforttoinstallnew(newerthan5yearsold)projectorsfromtheceilingofallrooms.Ibelieveallmoneythedistrictgetsiswastedonmanylevels.Thebidsarefromfriends&rela9vesandarethecheapestworstcontractorstheirare.Theworkdoneisalwaysawful.Theboardmembershavenoexperienceinthisareaaswell!PickupanddropoffalongSantaRitaisanightmare!Newtrafficplanwillhelpbutthereisnotsafedrivingalongtheroad.ParentsareSTILLdroppingkidsoffattheredlightinthemiddleoftheroad!Weneednewfacili9es!Thesmallgym/girlslockerroomhasbecomeahealth/safetyissue.Amador'sportablesareandhavebecomepermanentstructures.Weshouldnotbeimprovinganyadminbuildingbeforeteacherareinsafeclassrooms.Thereisastrongneedtoaddress#15:Upgradeandreplaceclassroomandlibrarytechnology,withalong-termplantosupportthetechnology,intermsofrepair,replacement,andupgrades.Iamhopefulthatthedistrictcanaddress#16,notonlytoaddresstheenvironmentalconcerns,butasafiscalconcern.Idounderstandthattherearelogis9calandcostconcernsatAmador,butIdohopethereisaplantoimplementsolarinthefuture.ConvertrelocatableclassroomstopermanentbuildingsThesetemporarystructureswearmuchfasterthanpermanentbuildingsandarerarelysufficientspaces.Idon'tunderstandtheneedtoreplaceportablesaheadofotherprojects.Someoftheportablesareactuallynicerthanclassroomsoncampus.

Asweadoptcommoncorecompliantcurriculum,itisclearthatourtechnologycannotsupportthestateoftheartteachingandlearning.

Classroomsecurityinanageofschoolshoo9ngsataffluenthigh-schools,similartoPleasantonhigh-schools,isanobviousfirstpriority.Manyclassroomshaveflimsyglassdoorsandlargebanksofun-reenforcedplateglasswindows.Replacethoseimmediately.DistrictwideenergymanagementsystemsseemstobeveryweakatAVHS.Savingsnejedfromimprovementsinenergyusagecouldfundotherprojects.alltheschoolsneedimprovements,butthemostnecessaryIfeelisthebathrooms,andtheshadedareatokeepstudentsea9ngoutsideinsteadofinsidetheclassrooms,
