Chairman’s Message for 2017

I would like to welcome all of you to the 61th annual meeting of the Argent Federal Credit Union. With assets over $230 million and a busy loan department, I am encouraged that the credit union will continue to grow. This past year saw the start of an important project to aid in that growth. The replacement of our core computer system is almost complete and I look forward to its startup.

Argent continues to make its presence known in the Metro Richmond area by TV and radio advertising, participation in large community events, volunteering time and donating to charities like the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program as well as presenting two scholarships to deserving university freshmen.

I would like to thank the members of the credit union, the staff and management team, and my fellow volunteers for their continued support and effort to make Argent a better place to serve our members. I would especially like to thank Tom Thompson and Maurice Beck Jr. for their many years of service on the board of directors.

Argent Supervisory Committee 2016 Report

Audits and Examinations

The Credit Union was examined by the National Credit Union Administration for the 12 month period ending 06/30/2016. We received great feedback on policies and operational procedures. No corrective actions were requested from the NCUA examiners. The credit union continues to be well capitalized.

The committee engaged PB Mares to perform a balance sheet audit for the year 2016. Although the complete report has not been issued to the committee for 2016, it’s fully expected that we will receive an unqualified audit report. The 2015 report, which had not been received by the 2016 annual meeting, was issued with an unqualified opinion.

The committee performed 39 audits on selected operations in 2016 and plan to be as active on behalf of the Credit Union in 2017.

Chairman’s Notes

Volunteer members of the Supervisory Committee for 2016 were Ida Nicholas, Debbie Bingham, Anna Knight, Navin Tejani, and James Chappell (partial year). We attended conferences to stay abreast of regulations and compliance procedures, met quarterly to plan and review audits and follow-up on any findings and reported to the board monthly. Lastly, we will continue to look after members’ money as if it were our own.
