BMW CONNECTED DRIVE MICROSOFT OFFICE 365.

Microsoft Office 365 offers you the following benefits:With Microsoft Office 365, you can transform your BMW into a mobile office and have the opportunity to use the time spent driving your BMW even more productively. The control display in your vehicle becomes your personal information centre and enables you to stay up to date. While on the go, you can access your emails, calendar and contacts, as well as manage these without having to pick up your smartphone. What’s more, certain content can be used directly, such as destinations that can be transferred directly to the navigation system.

Requirements for use:– Professional Navigation System or Business Navigation System (available from October 2017)– Purchase of the ConnectedDrive Services package– Purchase of the Microsoft Office 365 package (available in the BMW ConnectedDrive Store)– A valid Microsoft Office 365 subscription that includes Exchange Online and optionally Skype for Business – read here

SETTING UP THE ACCOUNT.

In the main menu, select ‘Microsoft Office 365’ under the ‘Communication’ option. Log in using your Microsoft Office 365 account information.

To activate Microsoft Office 365 for your BMW, you will have to connect your Microsoft account using an authentication code the first time.

To do this, open the following URL in the browser on your smartphone: https://aka.ms/devicelogin.

Next, enter the authentication code shown on the control display of your BMW and confirm your entry by pressing ‘Continue’.1. 2.

Finally, enter your Microsoft Office 365 email address and your password.3.

Additionally, you have the option to create a four-digit PIN to ensure that only you are able to access your information.

ACCESSING EMAILS, CALENDAR AND CONTACTS.

With Microsoft Office 365, you have unlimited access to your emails, calendar and contacts while you are driving. Simply select the corresponding function in the Microsoft Office 365 menu.

To read or send emails, select ‘Email’ from the menu.

Select ‘Compose email’ in order to compose a new email.

In order to be able to dictate emails, the dictation function must first be activated. To do this, go to the ‘Settings’ menu and activate the ‘Server speech recognition’ field under ‘Language’.

Enter a valid email address using the iDrive Controller or touchscreen (in selected vehicles). Once finished, you can dictate a subject line and the body of a message. You can revise the text using the menu.

You can also select an email in your inbox to read it or to access the ‘Actions’ menu. Please note that emails can only be read aloud while the vehicle is in operation.

Now you can select ‘Reply’, ‘Forward’ or any other desired action.

Select ‘Calendar’ from the Microsoft Office 365 menu.

Then you can see an overview of your calendar entries for the current day.

By selecting on an appointment, you can see a detailed view with all available information. You can then use this information, for example by using an address as a destination for your navigation system.

Using the calendar menu, you can conveniently either accept or decline an event invitation.

Select ‘Contacts’ to access your contacts.

With the help of your iDrive Controller, you can now enter a name. Please note that this only searches the address book associated with your Microsoft Office 365 account.

Select a displayed contact in order to be shown more detailed information. If a telephone is connected, a saved telephone number can be called directly using this function.

Open the menu and choose ‘Join by Phone’.

The dial-in process will begin. A conference code is automatically sent to the paired mobile phone.

Note: If the Skype meeting invitation does not come from a Microsoft Office 365 account the automatic dial-in process also works, but in some cases the user may have to enter the right dial-in number on the display.

Open the menu and choose ‘Skype for Business Participants’.

Note: Participants can only be shown if the Skype conference is part of a Microsoft Office 365 account or subscription.

The status of participants is shown (mute/unmute).

Note: Mute and unmute can only be shown if the participants take part online and not by mobile phone.

– The automatic dial-in process will still work if the Skype meeting invitation does not come from a Microsoft Office 365 account, but in some cases the user may have to enter the correct dial-in number on the control display.

– Participants are only listed if the Skype conference is initiated through a Microsoft Office 365 account or subscription.

– The status of participants (muted/unmuted) is not shown if they are taking part using a mobile phone. The mute option can be found under the telephony menu in BMW vehicles (mute button).

– It is only possible to attend already existing skype meetings, but not to create a skype meeting.

– In order to use Skype for Business with a mobile phone, the device must have a Bluetooth connection to the vehicle. This feature uses the respective mobile phone network, which means that users may be subject to additional charges.

– Participation is limited to voice communication – images and videos cannot be displayed or shared during a conversation.

– Also available for all vehicles with a current Microsoft Office 365 (formerly ‘Microsoft Exchange’) BMW ConnectedDrive contract.

– This feature is only compatible with Skype for Business and not Skype for private use.
