Thank you for purchasing your CTS-V

Black Moon Products Splitter!

Included in your purchase is the splitter, a

full hardware package and installation

instructions. If there is any damage to any

portion of the product, please notify me

immediately at [email protected]

Tools needed:

1. Jack

2. Jack Stands

3. Electric Drill

4. ¼”, 3/8” and ½’ Drill bits

5. Door panel clip removal tool, Push pin

removal tool or small flat blade screwdriver

6. 7 MM or 9/32” socket/ ratchet or nut

driver

7. Phillips head screwdriver

8. Silicone glue/ epoxy (optional)

9. Large flat washers and ¼” lock nuts

(optional) Tracking and high speed racing.

Note: This picture shows a wrapped Splitter

This picture is a ‘RAW’ splitter that is ready

for your finish. This material can be painted,

plasti-dipped, hydro-dipped or even just

cleared over.

1. Begin by parking on a level surface,

jacking the car, putting jack stands securely

under it. Clean the bumper bottom before

and after removing factory trim pieces.

bumper. The bottom of your bumper will

appear better looking that mine which has

been violated on multiple occasions.

Please excuse the condition and extra

holes in my bumper. The large holes are

needed to make room for a D3 heat

exchanger that doesn't fit properly and the

extra holes are because of all the different

design prototypes and different mounting

patterns.

2. Remove the factory plastic trim side

pieces by removing the 2 (per side) 7mm

bolts.

3. Then remove the plastic push pins

by using a push pin removal tool as

pictured, a door panel clip removal tool or a

small screwdriver. You remove the center

section first then remove the base.

4. Pull out the side plastic trim pieces

and save them, bolts and push pins if you

want to return it to stock.

5. Decision time: You can leave the

center trim in place or remove it and flip it

over to reuse it once you get the new

splitter in place. Alterations to the mounting

tabs will be explained at that time.

6. To remove it remove the 2 - 7mm bolts and the 6 push pins pictured here. A push pin removal tool is a great investment or you can use a door clip removal tool or a small screwdriver.

7. If you bought a wrapped or raw with wrap supplied splitter I have included enough wrap to wrap this center trim piece and the lower section of the bumper if you choose to wrap it to match the splitter.

8. Once the 2 bolts and push pins are

removed pull the center trim piece out but

only if you are flipping it over.

9. At this point you should have the 2

side trim pieces removed as well as the

center trim piece if you have elected to flip it

over. The next step is to remove the 6

factory ‘u’ clips that held the 7mm screws

you removed. These can be difficult to

remove and need to be spread apart using

a flat head screwdriver, a door panel clip

remover, needle nose pliers or all of the

above.

10. Where you have removed the

factory clips drill out the 6 holes through the

bottom of the bumper with a 3/8” drill bit. It’s

best to use a drill stop set at 3/8” but if you

don’t have a set or can’t find them like me

then rolling some masking tape around the

3/8” drill bit leaving 1/4" to 3/8” exposed

works. Or take a small nut and tape it on

the drill bit at the 3/8” mark to keep you

from drilling too far. You just have to

penetrate the bottom of the bumper. (insert

joke here).

NOTE: The step above isn’t mandatory but

it allows a little ‘wiggle room’ when the new

clips and bolts are installed.

11. After the 6 holes are drilled to 3/8”

replace the removed clips with the supplied

1/4 “x 20 thread clips. These are much

better grade and larger than the factory

clips. These basically have a threaded

barrel/ nut attached to the back.

12. At this point it’s time to put the

splitter into place and start the 6 supplied

stainless steel ¼” x 1-1/2” bolts into the new

clips you just installed. These will be

removed so only snug these into place.

Make sure that the bracket that holds the

side trim pieces into place snaps into the

grove in the top of the splitter. It’s a tight fit

but isn’t that usually a good thing?

Note: Use care and caution to be sure

you don’t drill deeper than 1” with the

splitter in place. This is enough to

penetrate only the bottom of the bumper.

There are a couple inches of clearance

inside the bumper but I’d hate to hear

that you’ve drilled up thru the top of it and

if you do it’s on you. Sorry.

13. Now that the splitter is in place the 8

remaining holes will be used to drill thru the

bottom of the bumper. Drill through the

bottom of the bumper with a 1/4" drill bit.

Please be careful and drill slow. It’s only

about 1/8” thick so penetration is all we’re

looking for.

14. Once you penetrate the bumper with

the 8 additional holes remove the splitter.

15. Next you will change out to a ½” drill

bit and measure the diameter against one

of the rubber ‘well nuts’ and drill out the 8

holes to ½” and insert the rubber ‘well’ nuts

supplied with the splitter. A tight fit here is

also a good thing. If you need some lube to

get it in I’m sure you guys have some.

16. Work the well nuts into the ½” holes

until they bottom out. If you have made the

hole a bit too large I would glue or silicone

them in place so they stay put until you

tighten the bolt. They have to be firmly in

place to expand so if there’s any doubt glue

them in place.

17. At this point you will have drilled out

and replaced the stock six (6) clips with the

supplied clips. You will also have added

eight (8) ‘well nuts’ for the additional

fastener locations. This makes a total of

fourteen (14) fasteners holding your new

splitter in place.

18. Now put the splitter back into place

and run the bolts in but don’t tighten them.

19. Take the stock center trim piece

either as is or if you have wrapped it and

with a pair of snips cut the rear tabs off so

there is only ¾” exposed out the back. Take

the center trim and slide it back into place

with the cut off tabs on the bottom. Adding

a strip of double stick on the bottom will

give you some added protection. Once the

trim is seated in place under the lip tighten

the center 2 bolts and the 2 bolts on either

side of the center. (See picture to right).

20. Check that everything is in place

and lined up and tighten all 14 bolts

21. That’s it! You have officially

completed the installation of your Black

Moon Products CTS-V front splitter. Please

report back on the installation

Note: Keep all the stock trim, clips, push pins and screws in case you want to return your car to stock one day.

PLEASE READ!

Addendum to splitter

installation instructions!

For those of you that are tracking

your cars or doing half or mile racing

I have included 10 fender washers

and 1- ¼” x 20 lock nuts to use

instead of the 1/2” rubber well nuts.

Starting at step #14 you don’t have to

remove the splitter.

#15 Drill the remaining holes ¼”

instead of ½” as instructed.

#16 Pull the push pins that hold the

plastic fender liners and engine

underpinning. This will allow you to

reach up inside the bumper to install

the optional fender washers, ¼” lock

nuts and hold them while tightening

the splitter in place. Reinstall the

push pins removed for this step.

The splitter was tested to over 175

mph with the rubber well nuts but I

like to over do most everything in life

so if your car sees speeds at or over

this tested amount this safety

measure might be helpful.

Thank you again for your business,

your friendships and support.
