On July 25th IAP UG quiz was conducted at Vanivilas Seminar Hall by Department of Pediatrics and BMC Alumni Association. Prof. Premalatha, Dr. Ramesh and team smoothly conducted the programme. Teams participated with great enthusiasm. 6th term students Abbu. J and Bhavesh. M were winners who will represent BMC in intercollegiate competition. BMC Alumni Association will be felicitating winners with prizes at Annual Alumni Day Celebrations to be held on August 15th at I.M.A. HALL. (Photos inside)

Letters to the Editor:- I regularly read and enjoy BMC buzz. Great going, keep it up. Regards Asha Benakappa – Director, Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health, Bangalore I am very happy and proud to see all the progress made in emergency care. The plastic surgery department has made a great progress in taking care of all those who could not afford the Care. The photos, particularly of the child mauled by a bear reminds me of a 10 year old boy reconstructed by Dr. Shekar in 1972, I took care of the boy as an SHO. He was also mauled by a bear; he was in the hospital for nearly 1 year for multiple reconstructions. We affectionately used to call him "Karadi" and the patient loved it! Hosahalli Padmesh - USA Dear Dr. Srinivas Gowda, I have been following the B M C Buzz. It is heart warming to see all of you doing such a great job. And especially some of my Class mates like yourself. Yes, our College and Hospital facilities have come a long way. I was impressed to see the new additions at Victoria Hospital. When I went to see Jayadeva Hospital, coincidentally I met Dr. Manjunath while he was doing rounds. I took the Liberty of introducing myself and Complimented him and his team for having kept the hospital at the highest order. It is a pleasure and honor to say I have friends like you and Dr. Manjunath. Good luck to you all. Warm Regards, Dr. Malur R Vijay. (Vijaya Raghava in College Days) Dear Sir Thank you for the wonderful Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of the Bangalore Medical College that you had arranged for all of us. Although my visit may have been short it was extremely enjoyable. It was because of your efforts so many of us could come together and visit our college and hospital. Old ties were renewed. The arrangements were excellent and the CME was one of the best I have attended. A wide variety of subjects were covered discussed. It takes great effort and understanding to arrange such a CME and it is truly creditable that you and Dr Ramesh have drawn up such a wonderful programme. Further, the CME demonstrated the high standards and good work done by the alumni which was a tribute to our teachers like you and the institution.

IAP UG quiz conducted at Seminar Hall, Dept of Pediatrics, Vanivilas Hospital on 25th July 2016

The 1991 Batch of BMC Students under the active guidance and initiative of Dr. H.H. Suresh donated a

High End Anesthesia Work Station by contributing more than Rs 10 Lakhs to their alma-mater BMC in

a simple and meaningful function held on Sunday, 31st July 2016. Dr. K.M. Veeranna Gowda I/C

Dean/Director BMCRI, Dr. K.M. Srinivasa Gowda, Chairman, BMC DT, Dr. T.K. Ramesh, Director Minto

Ophthalmic Hospital and Regional Institute of Ophthalmology and Dr. R. Rajkumar, President, BMC

Alumni Association were present. On the occasion, the class also honoured twelve of their classmates

who were serving in primary health centres and hospitals in the rural areas of Karnataka, thus

recognizing and appreciating their commitment to serve the rural population. Also remembered and

honoured on the occasion was Dr. Krishna Murthy, Sr. Anesthesiologist whose service over decades were

remembered and lauded by one and all. While speaking about him, Dr. T.K. Ramesh recalled the calming

influence of Dr. Krishna Murthy in the most complex cases and how the operating surgeons never even

realized that there were difficult moments during the surgery. This was a nice gesture by a batch of

students who had joined the college 25 years ago in 1991. As icing on the cake, forty (40) doctors

registered as voluntary donors in the BMCDT-INFOSYS FOUNDATION BONE MARROW REGISTRY. The

following is the photocopy of the letter written by the Hon’ble Minister for Medical Education Dr. Sharan

Prakash R Patil who was invited to be the Chief Guest but could not attend the function due to prior

commitments.
