MIRACLE JARS – Our miracle jars for July donations will be for CAPA. CAPA (Child Abuse

Prevention Association) is a local non-profit organization founded in 1978 for the purpose

of providing prevention and intervention programs targeted at breaking the cycle of child

abuse and neglect. CAPA provides school-based safety and character development

education programs for children, several teen pregnancy prevention programs and a variety of

parent education and support programs. CAPA offers professional training for adults who are

mandated reporters of child abuse and neglect, offers a family support/mentoring program, and

operates a shelter for abused and neglected children. Most residents of the Open Arms Shelter live

in Beaufort County but the shelter also serves Hampton, Jasper, Colleton and Allendale counties.

We as a society need to do all we can to protect our precious children from abuse, both by

predators and unfortunately, parents. We, the Mission Team, feel this is a very worthwhile

organization to support. As always we appreciate YOUR support.

JULY MISSION PROJECT – The Mission Team is collecting items for Hopeful Horizons (Formerly known as CODA and Hope Haven) during July. They assist victims of child abuse, and domestic violence. They cannot take used clothing, but their clients can shop at Salvation Army and Goodwill. There will be containers in the narthex for your donations! Please pick up a copy of their “Wish List”, which is on the table in the narthex.

Carrefour Friends —

Have there been times when you feel the tender touches of the Holy Spirit? When you visit a friend who is ill, help a neighbor who is homebound, talk with a friend who is disheartened, visit with someone who is lonely, smile and acknowledge a complete stranger on the street. The list goes on and on.

Many of us feel that we just do not have the time to visit with someone living in a care facility. So many appointments to remember, errands to run, dinners to fix, meetings to attend. But what is the Holy Spirit calling you to do today? Luke 10:40-42 tells us about Martha wanting to get her chores done before she could make time for Jesus. She came up to Him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me.” Jesus then defended Mary’s desire to simply sit and learn from Him as the most important thing. God never wants to be put in second place. He wants you to obey the gentle touch of the Holy Spirit this week instead of putting it off. Make the commitment to visit a lonely resident in a care facility. We currently have over 30 residents waiting for a volunteer. If you are interested in becoming a friend for someone who really needs one, please contact Jackie Tuohig at 913.748.5929 or email us at [email protected].

Carrefour Friends……care for friends.

ALTAR FLOWERS – Thank you to those who have added to the beauty of our sanctuary by generously donating the altar flowers. You are encouraged to take your flowers home. Containers for that purpose are located under the pulpit and in the closet in the education wing across from the Youth Room.

YOUR HELP IS REQUESTED – As you leave the worship service, please check to make sure you have taken all of your belongings. If you wish to leave your bulletin for recycling, please return it to the large basket in the narthex. Also, trash cans are located under the tables in the narthex. Your help is greatly appreciated.

HOSPITAL MINISTRY: Being in the hospital or rehab center can be a difficult

time for patients and families alike. Please keep us informed by calling

Christian Care Ministry – Linda Cecil, 859.619.1777.

WE WILL NOT HAVE FIRST SUNDAY FELLOWSHIP & REFRESHMENTS DURING JULY OR AUGUST.
