Getting Started

About the Blueprint License Server Installation Guide

The Blueprint License Server (BLS) is a software application that you can use for managing a pool of concurrent licenses. This document covers the basic steps required to install the Blueprint application on a Windows™ 2003 or 2008 Server. For additional features related to managing the server, consult the vendor’s manuals included with the installation. Be aware that every computing environment is different and that individual circumstances will vary. If you require assistance, contact Blueprint support: http://www.blueprintsys.com/support

Before You Begin

Before installing Blueprint License Server 2.0 for Windows®:

Review the Blueprint License Server System Requirements on-line

Updates to Blueprint License Server software and documentation are made available periodically. Please check the Blueprint Download Center for updates and select the appropriate files.

Default Port: This application requires use of Port 8008. However, this can be changed and is discussed in the Installation section of this document

Directories & Filenames: This document uses the directory locations and file names pre-selected by the application. If you select different locations or file names, remember to substitute your own choices when following the instructions.

Install User: Ensure that you have administrator rights for the system on which you are completing the installation.

Pre-requisites

A 32 bit Java Development Kit (JDK) is required on the system on which you plan to install BLS. If required, a JDK you can obtained from: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html Minimum JDK version: 1.6.x Do make note of the installation location of the JDK (default = C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.x) as this will be required later in the installation process !
