BPI Case Studies BPI has been widely utilized in water resource management, master planning, treatment of surface water, groundwater and wastewater, water reuse, residuals handling, biosolids management, desalination and concentrate management, corrosion and stability assessment, industrial wastewater treatment and water balance, distribution system water quality, reliability and risk assessment. Below are some example applications of BPI.

One Water LAUsing BPI, Carollo led the One Water LA 2040 Plan for the City of Los Angeles, a historic and game-changing water planning effort. The model was configured to account for all the City’s key water supply sources, including a dozen sewersheds, four wastewater treatment plants, and hundreds of miles of storm drains and channels.

Carbon Management ToolThe BPI Carbon Management Tool analyzes carbon management strategies for wastewater treatment plants. It provides an integrated platform for assessing treated water quality focusing on nutrients versus available soluble biodegradable COD with real-time analysis of operational costs. It is instrumental for optimizing dosing of external carbon source, digestion and methane recovery, and cogeneration and fermentation.

Industrial Water Balance and Wastewater TreatmentBPI provides an integrated systemwide water balance analysis, monitoring and management tool to assist our private sector clients in managing their water resources.
