UPDATE DESCRIPTIONBlock Load v3.05 corrects several bugs reported in Block Load v3.01:
1. A “Subscript out of range” error occurred at program startup or when printing zone input data.
2. A “Couldn’t insert or paste; data too long for field” error was caused by entering a system name longer than 24characters, or a city name longer than 20 characters.
3. Table 5 (TOP TEN COOLING LOADS) was missing from the System Sizing Summary report in certaincircumstances.
4. An error in the DOS data conversion utility existed which caused the following data to be inc orrectly translated:• Zone lighting total watts into watts per unit floor area (W/sqft or W/sq m).• Zone total number of people into occupant density (sqft/person or sq m/person).• Zone total electric watts into watts per unit floor area (W/sqft or W/sq m).• Zone total infiltration flow into flow rate per unit floor area (CFM/sqft or L/s/sq m).
5. A “File not found” error occurred during DOS data conversion if Block Load couldn’t locate MBF2IEEE.DLL.
6. An “Overflow” error occurred during load calculations when the system had more than 32767 CFM (15462 l/s) ofdirect exhaust air.
7. The Global Change option for “Internal Shades” worked incorrectly. The program changed the Internal Shadesitem to “used” if you specified “not used”, and vice versa.
8. A “Printer error” occurred when printing to a network printer whose print queue name contained spaces or otherinvalid characters.
9. The Maximum Heating Load data listed in Table 6 of the SYSTEM SIZING SUMMARY report for systems oftype “Clg and Electric Heat” were identified as being in kilowatts (kW), but the values listed were actually inBtu/hr.
10. An “Invalid use of null” error occurred when attempting to save or open a project, if one or more of the projects inthe Block Load database contains a null (blank) name.
11. An “Unable to initialize system” error occurred when the program drive letter was different from the drive on whichBlock Load project data was being stored.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURESThe Block Load v3.05 program is provided on a set of three floppy disks. SETUP.EXE on Program Disk 1 is used toautomatically install the program on your hard disk as described below.
Before installing the program, make sure your computer meets minimum requirements:• A Microsoft Windows compatible computer with an 80386 processor or higher.• A hard disk drive with 3.3 megabytes of available hard disk space.• A VGA compatible display monitor.• Eight megabytes of random access memory (RAM).
Use the following procedure to install Block Load v3.05:• Insert Program Disk 1 in drive A:.• From the Windows desktop press the Start button and choose Run.• In the Run dialog enter the command A:SETUP• Follow the SETUP instructions which appear on the display screen.• During installation a “Carrier E20-II” group will be created if one does not already exist. Within the Carrier E20-
II group, a “Block Load v3.05” icon will be created.• Note: If you created your own icons, items or groups (other than “Carrier E20-II”), you will need to update
these items manually in order to use them to run Block Load v3.05.
Use the following procedure to run Block Load v3.05:• From the Windows desktop press the Start button and choose the Programs option. On the Programs menu choose
the “Carrier E20-II” group.• In the Carrier E20-II group double-click on the “Block Load v3.05” item.• Note that the first time the program is run you will be asked to specify a data storage drive for program data.
Notes:• Block Load v3.05 program files require 3.3 megabytes of hard disk space.
PREVIOUS VERSION INFORMATION• Block Load v3.05 for Windows is able to use data files created by Block Load v3.01. When you install Block
Load v3.05, your previous data will be undisturbed.
• Block Load v3.05 for Windows is also able to use data files created by Block Load v2.12 (a DOS program). To dothis, use the Convert DOS Data option on the File menu to select the Block Load v2.12 data directory from whichyou want data brought into Block Load v3.05.
• Block Load v3.05 will overwrite files for v3.01 when it is installed. Therefore, it is not necessary to uninstall v3.01before installing v3.05.
• Block Load v3.02, v3.03 and v3.04 were copy protected versions of the program released in international regions.This is the reason the version for North American users changed directly from v3.01 to v3.05.
MANUAL INFORMATIONThe User’s Manual has not been revised for this software update. All information in the current manual is still valid.The printing date for the current edition of the manual is 4/98.
