The New Year is off to a great start! Where did February

go? It was hard to believe that just a few weeks ago the

stores had become inundated with floods of pink and

red. I love the idea of Valentine’s day, chocolates, cupid,

children exchanging little cards with candies, everything

inscribed with hearts and words of love, I absolutely

adore it; and when you see the huge teddy bears

wrapped in red ribbons, my mind inevitably turns to

something else...spring is coming and with it there is

also something else that arrives… preparing for tax time.

I know that taxes are not at all a romantic or sweet

thought; however, it can be a little easier for you and

your family with just a couple tips.

Get it done early

Employers are required to get the required paperwork

sent out to you before January 31st, don’t wait till the last

minute; beat the rush by getting your relevant

documents to your professional of choice and then sit

back and relax!

Consult with a Professional

A CPA or a tax attorney will have more insight into the

changing rules of tax laws than most people. If in doubt,

reach out to one of them, you’ll be happy that you did!

Of course, tax season can be especially intimidating if

you’ve recently filed for separation or divorce. In this

month’s blog, we address the most frequently asked

questions when filing either after or during a family law
