and Bentinck in Grey Co., that being the route taken by the Guelph to Owen Sound Highway (a.k.a. Garafraxa Road) as it was constructed in the 1850s
3. Brant Township, Bruce Co., is adjacent to Bentinck Township, Grey Co.
4. "Upper Canada" became "Canada West" which became Ontario at Confederation in 18675. Alberta and Saskatchewan became Canadian provinces in 1905; prior to this they were part of the North West Territories
