Folowing the success of last year’s course and because of renewed demand, Comblast will be holding another Blast & Ballistic protection design course in October 2011. In recent times the need to protect ourselves from the hazards of explosion or ballistic attack, be they the result of an accident or terrorist activity, has grown. This five day course provides an introduction to the techniques required to design buildings to protect their occupants from the effects of explosions or ballistic attack. The course is intended for students with existing experience of structural analysis and preferably with some experience of simple dynamic design. It is designed to allow them to progress from the classroom to actual projects. The course is presented by Comblast, with support from D.J. Goode and Associates Ltd, an organisation with a wide experience of designing structures to resist weapon effects and conducting explosive and ballistic trials. The course content will include: Blast and Ballistic design for concrete, steel, aluminium and glass. Use of dynamic design tools from simple design guides to complex finite element modelling. An introduction to blast and ballistic testing including the test standards. Blast & Ballistic Range Day giving first had experience of explosive and ballistic effects an insight into their use. Regular workshop sessions that allow attendees to practice what they have learnt. Comblast performs an educational training course with lectures, workshops and a Blast & Ballistic demonstration day in association with DJ Goode & Associates Ltd.

The course is presented by Comblast, with support fromD.J. Goode and Associates Ltd, an organisation with a wide experience of designing structures to resist weapon effects and conducting explosive and ballistic trials.

The course content will include:• BlastandBallisticdesignforconcrete, steel, aluminium and glass.

• Useofdynamicdesigntoolsfromsimpledesignguidesto complex finite element modelling.

• Anintroductiontoblastandballistictestingincludingthe test standards.

• Blast&BallisticRangeDaygivingfirsthadexperienceof explosive and ballistic effects an insight into their use.

• Regularworkshopsessionsthatallowattendeestopractice what they have learnt.

Comblast performs an educational training course with lectures, workshops and a Blast & Ballistic demonstration day in association with DJ Goode & Associates Ltd.
