The camping season is over, the temperature is dropping, many of our friends are heading down south towards warmer weather, and worst of all; NO GOLF! I won't waste your time with an entire article about how the winter months are depressing and lifeless. Instead I will write about all the fun we had in the sun. This article is going to be a look back at the incredible 2014 camping season; from our Annual Get- Together to our Annual Pig Roast. Here is a quick run-down of the 2014 schedule (the following was typed while waiting for my new golf clubs to arrive): April started us off with our get-together. Then we had Easter and the kids found all of the eggs we hid, even a couple from the year before. We finished the month with our friendship rally (Yay friends!) We started May with opening season weekend. Daniel hosted the Smores Bar and Sue won the Chili-Cook-off. Memorial Day weekend was a blast with Amy’s photo run, Blind Auction, poker run, Sugar Grove Band, and Rick’s electric golf cart obstacle course. Remember, the one where Jacque didn’t wear her seatbelt. We also got second place in the Fletcher parade for our awesome 1 st place quality float; thank you for the flags Ed! In June we had a very successful Antique Tractor & Engine Show/Flea Market. Mike and Phil got to play Poor Farmer’s Police. (My golf clubs just arrived!) At the end of June we had about fifty cars and trucks show up for the Cruise-in while we played corn hole in the rain. July brought fireworks, patriotic bingo, and karaoke by Frankie and Roy. Grandparent’s weekend left the kids tired and the general manager soaked. We ended July with the Woodcarvers Round-up, thanks Jim and Barb! August was fair time, and yes… Denise won. The “Best New Activityaward goes to the 1 st Annual Golf Cart Rodeo! Another home run Rick! September brought the return of Chris Cakes who fed and entertained us at our Shriner’s Breakfast. The Starlight Cloggers got my wife on stage, Doug and Sue and Doug and Sue won the Golf Scramble, and The Carl Springer Memorial Tractor & Engine Show/Flea Market went over flawlessly. Finally, October started with spookiness and candy and finished with a pig over a fire and one last Karaoke night. That covers 2014, now I’m going to hit the links with my new clubs. Thanks to all who made 2014 great! November 9 th , 2014 They say that the first year wedding anniversary should be a gift of paper; so I was going to give my wife a copy of this month’s Chatter, but just my luck, this is the first month it is online only. I guess I will have to figure out another gift for my beautiful wife who has managed to put up with me for an entire year. Happy Anniversary Andrea!

They say that the first year wedding

anniversary should be a gift of

paper; so I was going to give my

wife a copy of this month’s Chatter, but just my luck, this is the first

month it is online only. I guess I will have to figure out another gift for my beautiful wife who has managed to

put up with me for an entire year.

Happy Anniversary

Andrea!

Halloween Spook-tacular! This year’s Halloween weekend was another success. The weather cooperated with us again and the haunted shelter was so scary, it made “The Walking Dead” seem like “Sesame Street.” When I walked into the shelter to get the costume contest started, I could not believe how many kids were here. No official count was taken, but if I had to guess, I would say we had about a million kids… give or take. We would like to give a special thanks to the folks that made this weekend memorable for all of those children: Rick & Deb Levally, Denny & Jacque Shoenleben, Rick & Cindy Mangen, Tony & Cherrie Dippolito, Roy Steele & Frankie Morrow, Brian, Kyle, Jason & Amy Sturgill, Andrea Till, Mason Lane, and everyone else that participated

by passing out candy and decorating their site!

Annual Pig Roast

The 2014 Pig Roast came too soon! The theme for this year was “Where did it go?” Even though the year passed us by faster than we wanted, we still rounded out the season with some good food and a great time. The good food started with a 280 lbs pig, some chicken wire and our fearless leader, Ed Bruggeman. For the past five years, Ed has taken the reigns when it comes to preparing our pig. He makes sure that he is there from start to finish and takes much pride in his work. Ed and I would like to thank all who helped with the pig, including: Rick & Deb LeVally, Larry & Barb Slusser, Josh & Angie Hipshire, Denny & Jacque Shoenleben, Phil Hanson, Jason Sturgill and all of the staff here at the campground. It takes a family like ours to do it right.

Electric Bill Payment Information

For those who are worried about getting into the campground to pay your final electric bill, don’t be too stressed. At the beginning of this month we will be reading all of the meters in the campground. We will send out final bills to everyone who still owes for electric. Therefore, if you have not been in to pay for your 2014 electric, just hang on and wait for us to send you a bill. Thank you for taking care of those bills as soon as

you get them! – Mike

End of Season Need-To-Knows!

For those of you who are new to Poor Farmer’s Campground during the winter months, let me fill you in real quick. Polar Farmer’s is your very own section that gives you info and tips for cold weather RV living at Poor Farmer’s. Any issues, comments, concerns, or new policies will be posted in this section. All of you campers who wish to move up by the shower house need to get a hold of Mike so you can get a spot that you are comfortable with. Some spots are already spoken for so if there is one in particular that you would like, get on the ball and let me know. Also, for those who are staying at your campsite, please remember that when we get heavy snow, the entrance back to the shower house gets plowed first. That means that if you have to be to work at O’ Dark Thirty in the morning you may want to make arrangements for someone with a 4X4 to pick you up or bring your vehicle up front the night before… or just move up by the shelter. Contact Mike for any questions and please be kind to the lawn when and if the snow melts. -Mike
