Blackberry Z10 Release in India
– First Impressions on 25th
February, 2013
Got tired of stereotypes Blackberry smartphones in India?
All set with its latest OS, named BB 10, Blackberry is all set
to come in India with its latest high-end smartphone –
Blackberry Z10.On the upcoming February 25, 2013 Z10
would be released officially in an event in Mumbai.
Obviously, the Z10 is up against a large variety of competition – it’s specs and features, earlier
thought to be ground-breaking, now have to content with the very best that Samsung, HTC, Apple
and even Sony have to offer. But first, the design, which is unlike any BlackBerry device to date,
promoting sharp corners, bands across the top and bottom of the display, and a slightly recessed
screen (to make up for the lack of Gorilla Glass). Most of the talks in the form of Blackberry Z10
reviews have mixed flavours. It looks good but not great, more understated than the elegance that
the range is known for. At 0.35 inches and 137.5 grams though, it’s undeniably portable and easy to
get a grip on despite the somewhat cheap plastic back panel. Build quality is strong and sturdy,
though we would have preferred protective glass on a premium device like this.
Specifications of Blackberry Z10
The BlackBerry Z10 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 CPU clocked at 1.5 GHz with
2 GB of RAM and 16 GB internal storage (with a microSD slot for 32 GB more). The device is snappy
enough to open applications and navigate the UI fluidly. Benchmarks may not place it as high as
other devices like the iPhone 5 though. The 4.2 inch display features a nicely crisp 356 ppi pixel
density. Viewing angles produce some odd colour changes at times, but it’s no big deal. Brightness
levels are amazing, as is the overall colour quality. The Z10 leaves no stone unturned in terms of
connectivity options with NFC, 4G, LTE, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi ready to go. As suspected, the 8
megapixel camera delivers decent performance. It’s a shame that the focus never quite works the
way you want, though it can deliver in well-lighted scenarios. Battery life is also good, not great, with
roughly 8 to 8.5 hours of life off a single charge. The battery is also removable, for those who like to
carry backups. BlackBerry OS 10 is obviously the biggest change, as it now supports gestures for
accessing multi-tasking and apps along with an iOS-like grid arrangement. Honestly, it’s nice and fast
– but nothing extraordinary. Even worse, at this current stage, there aren’t a whole lot of great apps
for the device.
Pros:
- Strong technology; great 4.2 inch display
- Good battery life
- Build quality and weight are up to snuff
- BlackBerry OS is fast and functions well
- Plentiful connectivity options
Cons:
- Nothing extraordinary to recommend over competition
- 8 megapixel camera is below average
- Underwhelming design
- App selection at launch quite limited
Verdict:
Product consumer reviews , especially mobile phones reviews would be upbeat with this newest
launch. The BlackBerry Z10 marks a big step forward for the company. With new looks & brand new
blood in OS 10, it really makes the market upbeat.
