Clean ash from the heat exchangerand flue about every 500 hours ofoperation as indicated by the hourmeter.

Tools Needed: 1/2” Socket, 5/16Socket, 3/4 Open End Wrench,Chimney Brush, Small Pipe Brush,Work Gloves, Dust Mask or Respirator,Large Trash Bag, Box

Warning: Turn off power at the circuitbreaker before beginning this service.Wear protective clothing, includinggloves and a dust mask or respirator.

Allow heater to cool.

Disconnect 3/8 copper fuel line where itconnects to the burner preheaterassembly.

Unplug the burner.

Remove the 2 nuts from the hingedaccess door and swing the door open.

Use a small wire brush to clean all themetal surfaces of the heat exchanger.Lightly brush the ash off of the hingeddoor and the burner air tube, takingcare not to damage the insulation. Youmay use a shop vacuum to remove theash also.

Remove back access panel by theremoving the nuts. The panel will behave ash buildup on it. Position a boxunderneath it to catch the ash.

Lightly tap the flue and allow the ash tofall into the box. Run a chimney brushinto the flue to remove ash buildup.

Reattach the back access panel.

Swing the hinged door closed.Reinstall the nuts and connect the fuelline.

Plug the burner in. Allow 15 minutes for

Boiler Description: Horizontal fire tube boiler constructed of welded, hydrostatically tested,1/4 inch ASME quality steel boiler plate. Horizontal tubes are 2 inch OD by 0.093 wall ASMEquality steel tubing.

Heating process: The combustion chamber is surrounded by water on all sides but thethe burner side. The combustion gas turn back on itself in the cylindrical combustion chamberand enters the 25 horizontal tubes which are surrounded by water. The water absorbs heatfrom the flue gas.
