BJ's plans to open a 101,000-square-foot location at the Metropolitan later this year.
It's official: BJ's Wholesale Club Inc. plans to open a store at the Metropolitan in midtown Charlottethis year.
Property Markets Group, a real estate firm based in New York, has acquired the former Home DepotDesign Center space at the Metropolitan at $14 million and has signed a lease with BJ's for a new101,000-square-foot location that is expected to open later this year, according to a release fromBJ's.
The Charlotte Business Journal broke the news last month that BJ's was targeting the former HomeDepot Design Center space for a new location.
"BJ's is very pleased to be working with such a trusted developer as PMG," said Pat Smith, assistantvice president of real estate for BJ's. "Together, we look forward to providing another convenientshopping destination that fulfills the needs of value, selection, quality and leading brands forCharlotte consumers and families.
PMG is marketing the remaining 21,000 square feet of space for lease. Carmel Construction is thegeneral contractor, and Bignell Watkins Hasser is the architect. ColeJenest & Stone is the civilengineer, and Collett will manage the property.
