The fish seeds' production had been increased and
speeded up in 64 hatcheries and 57 fish farms to
make it available to the fish farmers in
Chhattisgarh soon.

The State Fisheries' Department under the rule of
BJP Chhattisgarh, has fixed a target of 598 crore
'Spaan' production this year. About 149 crore
Standard Fry fish seeds will be produced from the
'Spaan'. This includes Katla, Rohu and Mrugal
species fish seed.

The Fisheries' Department, private and Fisheries
Mahasangh hatcheries and fish farms had started the
fish seeds' production in June itself. About 116 crore
'Spaan' has been produced till date. Standard fry
seeds are made out of 'Spaan'. It takes about 20
days to make Standard fry from 'Spaan'.

According to the Fisheries Department headed by BJP
Chhattisgarh Minister Mr. Brijmohan Agrawal the fish
rearing is highly profitable as a part of allied agriculture
activity in Chhattisgarh.

About 1,635 lakh hectare water area is available for
fish rearing and 2.10 lakh fishermen are provided
with self-employment. As the state of Chhattisgarh is
self-sufficient in fish seed production.

The Fisheries Department is developing the water-field
of nearly 14 hectares in Lamni for fish farming purpose,
wherein fishes of various species including rohu, katla,
mrigul, commoncorp, magnesia, and others would be
produced. In this water field the decorative fishes will
also be kept here.

The farmers will be taught advanced technique of fish
farming. The new techniques must be taught to them so
that they can increase the fish production. There is an order
by the Agriculture Minister Mr. Brijmohan Agrawal to
build a magnificent fish aquarium.

This aquarium is proposed to be constructed near
Chitrakote waterfall or Dalpatsagar of Jagdalpur in order
to increase tourist attraction. Earmarking of land for this
purpose is underway.
