Erasure of Multiple Hard Drives

Multiple Hard Drive Erasure Over a Network

Here are three ways in which BitRaser can be deployed:

Insert BitRaser dongle in the machine on which hard drive erasure has to be performed.

Select the “Boot” tab in BIOS. Under the Hard Drive Order section of Boot tab, you should see ‘SmartUkey option, select this as the default boot drive. Save and exit. Reboot and ensure BitRaser dongle is connected. BitRaser will now launch.

Restart this machine and enter BIOS settings. This will differ on the make of your machine.

Once BitRaser Home Screen appears, all connected drives will be listed. Select the ones that have to be erased.

Select the erasure algorithm and whether verification isrequired or not, then click Erase.

All selected drives will be erased with the selected algorithms. Once the erasure process is over, a confirmation message will be displayed of successful erasure.

All erasure reports can be gathered from the “Reports” tab and saved on the BitRaser USB dongle or any other USB drive.

Gather all hard drives that are to be erased and create a storage rack.

Connect the storage rack with a system.

Insert BitRaser USB dongle in the system connected to this storage rack.

Select the “Boot” tab in BIOS. Under the Hard Drive Order section. You should see ‘SmartUkey’ option, select this as the default boot drive. Save & Exit. Reboot & ensure BitRaser drive is connected. BitRaser will now launch.

Install BitRaser Management Console on the server

Configure management console where user information and customer credentials are to be stored

To perform erasure over a network, set the BIOS of target machines to boot over LAN. All target machines must be on the server domain

Create customers and jobs before erasure is commenced. Reports can later be generated for each job ID

Boot clients through BitRaser Management Console

All clients will be listed in BitRaser’s ‘Erasure Management’ tab.Clicking on each client will list the drives connected. Select and erase hard drives

After successful erasure, while erasure reports are automatically saved on the server, there is an option to save them on thumb drive and import to server
