VorwortLiebe Freunde der Gitarrenmusik,seit Jahren schon bin ich der irischen Musik verfallen, so war es nur eine Frage der Zeit, bis ich irische Melodien für Gitarre bearbeite – in jener Stimmung, die wie für sie gescha� en ist: DADGAD!Da dabei gleich mehrere Saiten umgestimmt werden (die Saiten 1, 2 und 6 jeweils einen Ganzton tiefer), emp� ehlt es sich, die Stücke nach Tabulatur zu spielen. Die Noten sind aber nicht bloßer Schmuck, sondern wurden aus zwei Gründen hinzugefügt: Erstens lassen sich dort gut Fingersätze einfügen und zweitens, wer weiß, vielleicht � ndet sich eine Fiddle oder eine Tin-Whistle oder gar eine Uilleann Pipe, die darauf brennen, die Melodie zu doppeln – eine Praxis, die in der keltischen Musik schon immer üblich war und sehr schöne E� ekte hervorzaubert.Inspiriert zu diesem Buch wurde ich durch ein Tre� en mit Ian Melrose, einem der führenden Celtic- und Contemporary-Gitarristen Europas, dessen Musik ich seit Jahren kenne und auch wärmstens empfehlen kann, dem ich aber noch nie persönlich begegnet war. Zu meiner großen Freude hat Ian sich nun angeboten, die CD zu diesem Buch abzumischen, was mich wiederum dazu antrieb, einige Bonustracks mit Bass und Barockgitarre aufzunehmen, was den sehr schönen E� ekt hervorzauberte, dass die CD nicht nur umfangreicher und farbiger, sondern auch – dank Ian – zu einem Hörgenuss wurde. PrefaceDear Guitar Music Fans,I’ve been in love with Irish music for years so it was only a matter of time until I arrange Irish melodies for the guitar and present them in a tuning that’s tailor made for them: DADGAD!As several strings are going to be tuned di� erently now (strings 1, 2 and 6 will each sound a whole step lower), it’s advisable to use guitar tablature to perform the pieces. � e inclusion of sheet music however is not merely decorative and has been added for two reasons: � rst, you can easily add � ngerings if you like and secondly, who knows, maybe you can � nd a � ddle, tin whistle or even a Uilleann pipe player who’s anxious to double the melody – a practice which has always been customary in Celtic music and which conjures up a magical and beautiful e� ect.I was inspired to write this book a� er meeting Ian Melrose, one of the leading Celtic and contemporary guitarists in Europe whose music I’ve known for years and can warmly recommend, but whom I had never met personally. To my great joy, Ian o� ered to mix the CD that accompanies this book which impelled me in turn to record several bonus tracks of bass and baroque guitar which added a very nice atmosphere to the recordings so that the CD not only sounded more comprehensive and colorful, but also which – thanks to Ian – made it a real pleasure to listen to.
